So one of my dogs came in at 4 AM last night and started rubbing all over my bed. A sudden whiff of odor and his sneezing like crazy all told me that he had gotten skunked. My mom and I pulled him into the bathroom and put Nature's Miracle (skunk odor remover) all over him. He smells mostly better now, but the house, especially my room, smell terrible. I spritzed my carpet with more Nature's Miracle, although it will probably need a few more applications, and we're washing the bedding and clothing he rubbed all over. We also opened the windows and are running fans to try to ventilate the house. Anyone have any other tips for getting out skunk smell?
The joys of dog ownership. :)
While all I can recommend is just continue to clean and ventilate that area, I remember a time when I was camping and I saw a skunk about 10 feet away from me. All I said to the guy next to me, who asked "is that a cat?" Was: "Skunk!!! Run like hell!!!" Because it lifted its front legs in that typical aggressive posture that means he's armed lol
Silence is golden... Duct tape is silver.
Wow! I've never been that close to one. Glad you didn't get sprayed!
Incense is great for covering up. I recommend patchouli or dragon's blood since they are very heavy scents. If you luck out and find spearmint incense use that it's crazy strong.
All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did.
That's a good thought. I'll keep that in mind for the next time, because the same dog actually got skunked again about a week later. He's an idiot. We managed to use the Nature's Miracle and a mix of dawn, baking soda, and peroxide to get out most of the stink. He's still a little smelly around his neck, but otherwise fine. Thanks again!
