I've slotted for a CW but when I click the link, I just get a blank page with "return to CW home"

you probably missed the cw payment deadline or if not refresh or clear cookies if needed or change browsers

That can happen if the submitter canceled the item for some reason. If you've only slotted on a CW or two recently you can maybe just ask if there's a reason it was canceled, otherwise just wait until you get another payment ping. It could just be that they uploaded the wrong file or something and they just have to wait for the right ones.
