It takes a long time for signatures to update at the moment. Try waiting an hour or so and check back? Also, make sure the image you're using has https functionality! Images with http won't work. Images from imgur or photobucket should work. c:

For future reference, Photobucket is no good as an image host any more. Not unless you're willing to pay in order to be able to use those images for signatures, profiles and the like. They're charging for that kind of hotlinking now.

Yep. It's been going on for a week or so now. Hotlinked images have started breaking for people. You might see a few replacement images about bandwidth in signatures and forum images around the forums here. That's why. :(

There are a few posts in Profiles & Graphics Discussion about the problem, and people looking for alternatives.

By the way, Imgur is probably best avoided too. You might get away with the odd signature, but it's actually against their ToS to use them to host images for hotlinking on other sites. Not really suitable for pet profiles.

imgur is still fine for hosting images; the issue their terms describe seems to be referring to using imgur as the delivery method for your own site's images. so like if subeta decided to save server space by hosting all their images on a third-party site instead of their own servers. but using it to host images that you then hotlink on other sites is fine and completely normal, because like... that's just how the internet works.
