Have others gotten requests from quest givers which are pretty unreasonable to ask for because they come from shops like L'Amor Parlor or Esther's? Quentin just asked me for one, and pretty much none of those items you can get for a half-way reasonable price for a quest, and the only thing I can be thankful for is that she already gave me a Mage Amulet to cover the cost of the item she asked for.
Before anyone says "You could have just quit the quest", I would if there was a literal pattern to when you get questpoints, and I can only do 10 quests to begin with, so I'd much prefer to get the points than not.
My point in bringing this up is really more to do with finding out if this was just a glitch it gave me for some reason, or if this is now part of the system for quest givers to ask for these unreasonable items.
I believe the system just hasn't caught on to the price changes. It doesn't happen often, but is still possible. Certainly let everyone know if it's happening more often than expected!
: Thanks! I don't know about how often because this has literally never happened to me before with any quest giver, and the item she asked me for has ALWAYS been over 200,000sP from a player shop, so I don't know about it 'not catching on to price changes.' O.O I'll definitely be updating here if it happens again from another quest giver in the near future.
Hopefully, others will post here as well if they find the same thing happening to them!
Quentin likes to ask for Holiday items so there's a pretty large pool of items it can pick from. Sadly sometimes they want the more pricey items and unless you have the currencies to spare (and avoid spending sP) it might be best to skip the quests that ask for the higher priced pieces. Usually they don't ask for pricey stuff all that often.
quentin's rarity range is i think 0-175 (which covers both holiday items and game prizes) and i think they might have a sP range but i don't generally pay attention to that. (usually i'm asked for two things between 20k and like 50k, maybe. i want the chance at an amulet so i don't care what they ask for tbh.) if they are repeatedly asking for items above 100k that's probably worth a bug report or a ticket or something.
also i thought the quest point was awarded every five quests you complete?
You're welcome
There's a price limit on the holiday item the NPCs ask for. It should be around 50k.
Ah I didn't realize there was a limit. Thanks for that.
quest points are not in any way dependent on certain quests. You get one fifth of a quest point for every completed quest you do.
It's always been possible for quest grantors to go temporarily insane and ask for something that's not worth what they give as rewards. If you get more than one in a row, you have a problem IMO because it's not very common.
Quests are free sP, pretty much. Don't do the quests that charge too much. If you really need items that cost QP, go to the subforum Advertising - Wanted and ask someone to sell you items that they can get with their extra QP. (QP cannot be sold directly). The sP to QP prices are reasonable.
: Thanks for the note, though I guess I've been lucky in her only rarely asking me for holiday items in the first place. And yeah, her usual price cap is around 50k (which she's done to me a lot today, too, but that's at least within her range).
: I've never seen a pattern to how I get quest points, because sometimes I get 1, sometimes I get 2, sometimes I get 3 (in 10 quests, which is actually impossible unless you've lucked out and gotten the quest buff for an extra quest), and there are multiple times where I've gotten two of them in a row. Maybe it's just me? O.O
: LOL! I guess that's a good way to describe Quentin just then. I'm just thankful it was on her quests (she ended up giving me, like, 4 Mage Amulets), or I don't think I would have done it. Thanks for the laugh, though. About the questpoints, see my note to jensen.
I may check out the forums, but there's something I need sP for, first (an Ornate Floral Pitcher or a Glade Potion) before I can start spending it on getting items from the quest shop via forums. It's a good idea, though, so thanks for mentioning it! :)
it should be one point every five quests you do, not one on the first quest and one on the fifth. like, i just did my quentin and saggi quests and i got one point on the third quest and one on the eighth both times. it should be impossible to get two in a row? if you're having weird quest point shenanigans and unreasonable requests, there might be other things going on, idk. (also, quentin uses they, not she.)
NPC Quentin's a they. We don't know their gender, they're not telling.
I saw what you wrote for and that is not right, sorry. It is not random.
Ornate Flower Pitchers are gettable with Wizard Tokens in the Token Shop if you are patient and restockable from Seedlings. They tend to TS stock twice a year, once around Vesnali and again around Fireside (to burn them into Harvest Potions). Most things as rare as the OFP stock round four times per month in the store they sell at. Me, I have no particular need for all the WT that Allard gives out, but he also gives so much sP it's totally worth it to do his quests anyways. So WT are also free and a good way to get Glade at minimal sP cost, to my way of thinking.
: : Okay, Quentin is a 'they', I've just never seen a reference to gender and to me, Quentin looks female. I'll be sure to use the reference 'they' from now on if needed. Thanks.
I'm also not saying you're wrong about the questpoints being supposed to work that way, and usually they do for me, too. I'm just saying my personal experience hasn't been so ultimately reliable. If it is for everyone else, there may actually be some sort of glitch with my system and I may need to report a bug the next time it happens. This is the first I knew about it literally being on a schedule, honestly.
Solsticesprite, thanks for the advice. If I was THAT patient (since waiting months isn't 'a little patience'), I would probably even do it, but since I'm not, I'm building up enough sP to get a Pitcher or the Potion directly (depending on the difference in price). I need it for my last Pet I want to re-color, too, so it's just easier to buy it after a few days before I start working on other projects I need questpoints/sP for, anyway.
You should be getting quest points once every 5 quests you complete. They don't have to be the same quests, or all in the same day (so for instance, you could do 2 today and 3 tomorrow and then get a point).
If you are getting quest points more or less frequently, please file a ticket as soon as it happens so that staff can look at your logs and see what's going on. If it does happen again and you file a ticket, please don't do any more quests until your ticket is answered - it makes it easier to find it in your logs if something weird is happening. Staff will reimburse you quest points if we find that you're not getting all the ones you earned.
Also, Quentin's not a girl - they use they/them pronouns and are nonbinary, as mentioned.
