Just a poll thing I'm doing. What would you say is the least popular pet/color combination?

According to the statistics it's Experiment . Only 43 on site.

Is that only because it's hard to get? Is it a much desired pet? If so, I wouldn't say it's unpopular.

i would argue that it's the hipottu. i wouldn't count the experiments as they are only obtainable randomly through zapping (the only purposeful means of getting one is through a miracle potion II), so it's difficult to gauge popularity by those weird metrics. there's also the zasaba and qrykee, but they are both relatively new species.

as for the hipottu, though, that's one of the site's oldest pet species. it's been around as long as i can remember, and though it was "limited edition" until they removed that functionality, it still has yet to break barely about 1k on site. i think that speaks to a species' lack of popularity very well. similar case with the mallarchy, which doesn't even have the "was limited edition for a time" stipulation. it's been around for a long time, easily accessable, but just very unpopular.

I agree! I used to have a hipottu and I ended up changing her into something else even though I'd had her for years. I noticed that I hadn't seen anyone else with one for a long long time. I've also noticed that Cybill are fairly uncommon. I don't think I've come across anyone else with one in years. Granted I'm not looking at every user's page, but still.

To my amusement, I was reading this thread earlier today and then zapped and got an experiment .

I don't know that it's rare, precisely - difficult to get, but I think it's that people just aren't keeping them. I know I am not a fan of spiders or overly bloody things, and...well, I could link a pic of it, but it's the oozing bloody spider experiment, if you know which one I mean. Double whammy.

I'd say they're unpopular for a very good reason. At least the Chibi hippotus are adorable.

Hm, thanks for your input. I kind of like the Mallarchy because I like ducks, I may end up getting one in the future because it's unpopular.

I have an angel hippotu. I got because I loved its pose. Other good colors might be spectrum, blacklight, Nostalgic, and sweetheart. I also have a glade cybil. I'm surprised that the Subetan penguin may not be too popular because penguins are pretty well loved in real life thanks to movies like Happy Feet and March of the Penguins.

But yeah, I haven't seen many of these pets. Others might be xotl, zasaba, Bovyne, Chelon, clawsion, Lasirus, Pherret, and swampie.

Yeah when I saw the Zasaba I HAD to have it. Mantises are my absolute favorite insect. You don't often see mantis pets on pet sites.

I'm gonna disagree with about the 0925. Some users prefer cuter, fluffier pets, but there's also a lot of users who like bloody/scary/creepy pets and the 0925 is really nice for that aesthetic.

I think the main reason there are so few is because it came out recently. It's our newest pet species (other than the qrykee, which I'm not counting since that already existed for a while and was just renamed and stuff) It's also harder to get since those who want it have to get lucky with the zapper.

I think the camel experiment might be one of the most unpopular because it's so ugly - I've never heard of anyone having one who wanted to keep it like that. (I forget the number, it's the one you get by feeding pets water from peka glade)

Hippotu, Bovyne and Mallarchy, as well as some of the more body-horror experiments, tend to be pretty hard to find as "serious" pets. I'm not really sure why: I personally don't feel terribly inspired by those three species, and maybe others are the same, while some of the experiments that are less expressive / more traditionally "freaky" or "uncanny valley" might just be harder to match a character to?

I've always been a little more on the side of unpopular species, since I absolutely love Cadogres, Lasiruses and Aeanoids, which I don't see too much of. But I'm also guilty of having multiples of Lains, Legeica, Irions, and Mahars, so I guess I just have weird taste sometimes.

I'm the exact same way about Mallarchies! (Mallarchys? lol whatever the plural is) I love ducks, and I think Mals are super cute, but I just can't ever think of a character for them. I had a storm one for awhile because the art is so cute, but eventually I let her go.

I love Aeanoids too, and had the same problem with them, but now I finally have a fan pet they'll fit. Waiting on my seed to finish growing :D

I think my least favorite pet is experiment 164. Every physical feature about it is everything I don't like in a virtual pet.

I have a hippottu, but I admit I only got a hippottu after it was revamped to the current one. I wasn't a fan of the original hippottu so never got one.

I think the Bovyne is pretty unpopular and it's kind of always been that way. For me, it's a matter of I just haven't found a character that just says that it'd work as a Bovyne.

Looping back to my earlier post, I actually used to have two hipottus in my time on this site. It's not a pet that I dislike (I'm actually quite fond of that species), but I've just ended up finding more appropriate color/species combos for the pets who used to be hipottus. Same with dillemas, I rather love that species despite it's lacking popularity.

There's actually quite a few charming species in the lower ranks of pet popularity.

Excluding Experiments and the Zasaba/Qrykee, the Aeanoid, Mallarchy and Hipottu are statically the least popular. You can see the stats here.

My least favourite pet is probably the Aeanoid. I'm not interested in the Hipottu, either. Though I don't own one, I always love the art for the Mallarchy!

The one I'm most surprised at is the Donadak. It's one of my favourite pet species and I'm surprised it's placed at because I feel like I come across a lot on-site - especially the Glade version.

My pets are hidden at the moment but I have 11 hipottus ^^ In the colors: nightmare, bloodred, glade, glacier, lilac, galactic, spectrum, sweetheart, hydrus, angelic, and storm. I don't know if they're the species I have the most of anymore (I also have a lot of bhakorus, telenines, and ontras) but they're my favorite for sure! I really love the art for them, the shading is wonderful, and I think they're incredibly cute. It's kind of funny because I was never really overly interested in hippos in real life.. They're definitely unpopular though! It's really too bad that they and the mallarchy are still so unpopular. I wouldn't be surprised if the qyrkee and zasaba overtake them in popularity before too long.

Just to prove that there's someone for everyone, I actively sought out the camel/ and love mine dearly. I love her people hands and silly sprout. She's one of my absolute favourite pets out of my many.

Meanwhile, I've been seeing hippottu a lot on this thread. To be honest, my initial impression of it also wasn't great. But one day, I don't remember how, but I stumbled upon a bloodred hippottu and just fell completely in love. I'm planning to change one of my pet's names pretty soon and make it into a bloodred hippottu. To me, it looks like a baby hippo trying to be ferocious. It isn't scary to me, just adorable.
