i have 2 different feed containers.1for dogs 1 for cat.both containers have lids but dog and cats been prying them open or knocking them over.i poured a 16 pound dog food sack and dog was in it while i was pouring it.its like there starving but there not.they busted feed room door it was cheap fake wood it no longer shuts.

door was some kind of cardboatd looking stuff.i i tried putting feed in empty clean tidy cat litter pail they chewed the lid till they knocked it over and ate half the feed in it.cat even getting in trash knocking it over.so ive got the point i put cat out at night.dog is almost blind and i have to force her out and carry her back in house.

they get fed and they get scraps.im at a loss why there jumping in feed containers gobbling feed down while im pouring the feed..

i just gave 1 kitten away cause i cant afford it way there gobbling food down.i have 3 cats and the inside dog(my mothers) and a dog on chain outside.

i cant keep cleaning trash up and buying feed.they have never acted like this till last few months.i bag trash and there in it strolling it.

I use coupons and sometimes I get free pet products to review such as the tidy cat litter in the pail. Anyone know of something I can put feed in that they cant chew open or knock over to open?

I do not know whats going on with them. They catch mice outside and I feed them and they all(including the dogs)get scraps.Cause If I throw something in trash cats jump in it to go after what ever I threw even cans.I had to pull a can of cats head more than once.So I have to wash cans in sink before throwing them away.

Get plastic or metal containers with lids that snap or lock on (x, x, x are some examples) and keep them in kitchen cabinets (probably up high, and if the critters are opening doors, maybe install child safety locks on the cabinets?).

If your pets used to be strays, they may feel like they need to constantly eat as long as there is available food. It's possible that it could be caused by a health problem, also: It probably wouldn't hurt to take your animals to the vet to be checked out.

they/them/theirs, please.

Cat food is in a snap container they pried it open with there teeth. Cabinets build humidity I cant even put my salt in them.I would so love to replace them cause there nothing but issues...Can't afford to though.Mice get in them all time so it's cans only.My house seems like it was made as cheap as possible.Bottom of cabinets are same junk door made of that cardboard looking stuff.

no my pets where not strays.my moms dog was a rescue but that was over 5 years ago we got her.

Only thing right now keeping them out of tidy cat pail in a jug of bleach on top holding it shut(till they knock it over)

I own this and this

Move the containers somewhere new. They know where you keep them, so put them somewhere else. Soak some orange peels in vinegar for a while, spray the containers. Keep heavy objects that are difficult to move (like bricks) on top. If need be, bore two holes on each side of the containers going through lid and container, and padlock shut.

For the dogs in particular, put the container up, or buy a new container that's hard for them to get in to and the food will be low to the bottom. Something like an outdoor trashcan, weighted with bricks on the bottom so it can't be knocked over might help. And be easy to not only padlock shut, but also stack heavy things on top.

Something like this that will be tall.
