He has read 850 and its getting quite difficult to find new ones-more difficult to find new ones that aren't millions of sp. Is there another way to increase intelligence? He has his heart set on getting promotions at SAI but..... Thank anyone who can help!

Certain items can be used as stat boosters, some specifically for intelligence, see Subetalodge here. Also playing Mystic Spindles (Games > Mind) can earn you intelligence experience points, which you can exchange for either intelligence points or for specific books in the Spindles shop.
There are 1330 books your pet has not yet read. Roughly 540 of them are 1 million or less. I suggest using SubetaLodge to make a checklist so you can find them.

No, not really - nothing that hasn't already been mentioned.
- Get him a temp job until he's ready for the SAI. You have a small chance of getting a bonus INT when you collect his pay every day
- Boosters, like said.
- Playing mystic spindles - but the higher your int the more expensive it gets. You have to play A LOT of the game to get even one int. If you get good at 4 corners, you can earn 400 game pts, plus around 140,000 sp a day, so you'll also be able to buy a million sP book with your winnings every week. At 850 Int, it should cost around 7.2K game pts to buy 1 int.

I noticed your missing some of the books from previous years in the zombie den which you can still get in there.
Also you might want to look in the Antique shop under books. They're expensive books, but probably the cheapest place you'll find them. ( make sure the pet you want to read is your active pet if you buy any from there.)

I am confused. Did you read the first responses given? The ones before you reposted your questions? I understand you want ways other than reading books to increase intel but it seems you think you are on the expensive side of books now,
I made a checklist using the books your pet has read. The books he has not read start at less than 5000 sP. There are a lot of books he can still read that are far less expensive than boosters.
