I saved up my coins and still remember the day I could finally catch all the wonderful things the lizard would bring by buying AND splurging for . Then I gleefully waited and it was only a couple of months I caught one!

What a prize too.. how exciting! I believe the prize amounted to a little over a million but it was so wonderful and I felt my money here well spent. I continued to catch the lizard every 2-3 month and it was so exciting to see what I caught. It was only rarely now he got away.

However, for the past two years my catch has been more meager. When I do get this rarity it has been things I have and the price is around 70,000.. almost exactly the same every time. Never the nice things the lizard used to bring!. What happened? Did I waste my money buying the things that sprung the trap?

I hope the lizard can once again be what it used to be with prizes anywhere from 1 million to 3-4 even and to justify these two items to catch it constantly locked in my inventory! If people are getting too much, simply make it less frequent? Just my feedback on this one exciting part of the game. :)

There aren't that much r99 items work 1 million and up, so, the trap will never be awesome again.

R99 items don't just come from lizard events. So, changing frequency of lizard events would just annoy trap and spray owners further.

Outside of the potions, are one of the few r99 worth over a million. Most r99 items are under 100K, now.

Then perhaps this would be a good time to increase the field of items that can be gained by the lizard traps? I mean, I think I've gotten the lizard maybe once or twice in the last year, and both have been wildly unmemorable. Maybe bring in some old holiday items or something?

I've been noticing this too. I believe the most recent item I got was which isn't too bad, but the vast majority of items it produces are a lot closer to 70k.

Maybe it's time for a new Genetech Combo: Sprayed Lizard Minion Trap. It certainly wouldn't solve the problem, but it would soften the blow a tiny bit to only be using one lock slot for it rather than two.

I totally agree with Chocolate in that maybe the scope of items need to change beyond just r99. Clearly there's enough of those coming in via other means if the majority of them are close to 70k.

Not old holiday items - they're already coming in another way, via quests in their respective event. Most of them are also helluva cheap.

I'm not sure people will be mega excited to get a 7K retired Fireside item at all.

As for holidays no longer celebrated, they're used for the crystal shop.

Honestly, it would be nice to have a "Design an item" contest, where the winners would probably end up added to something like the lizard minions, or to the coin machine.

I think the event is okay as it is.

You're not meant to make a profit from the lizard events. The trap was added because people were unhappy that they were taunted with (at the time) rare items via RE. It's a bonus, not a way to make guaranteed money.

I'd definitely be up for merging the trap and spray into a lizard trapping kit for the sake of inventory cleanup, though. But changing the mechanics? I don't think it's really necessary for a feature that, to me, comes across as a gamble.

If anything, I'd like to see more uses for R99 items. Add an achievement for deleting, fragging or donating them, maybe? There's already one for R99 foods, a toy and for pawning a R99 item.

Please no. I hate lazy band-aid fixes like this. Deleting items will never be fun or rewarding, no matter how many achievements you get out of it.

True, that. :/ I couldn't think of any other way to get all those R99s out of the system without going for an item drive thing, and those are even less fun than achievements for deleting items.

I'm sure it still qualifies as a bandaid fix, but adding genetech/bakery combos for some of the existing r99s might help. At least you'd still be getting sellable/useable items back out of it, unlike donating/deleting.

I have trouble picturing anything that wouldn't feel like a band-aid fix at this point though.

Edit: Maybe Skitters would be interested for whatever reason (staff could probably think of a relevant plot for this) in converting r99s to their relevant alchemy tokens. When alchemy token prices are low and stable (aka actually reflective of their designated rarity) it wouldn't matter much, but when they're majorly inflated like they are when new alchemy items are released it could have a decent impact on both types of items.

In other words, Grapesaur would turn into Alchemy Token: Food or Alchemy Token: Minion (or maybe would turn into both, since the original item is both). [item=Alchemy Token: Food][item=Alchemy Token: Minion]

Brown-Black Metallic Leggings would turn into Alchemy Token: Wearable and/or Layer Card: Bottom. Could add tinctures to the mix as well but that might complicate it too much. [item=Alchemy Token: Wearable] [item=Layer Card: Bottom]

I would be very happy.. no tickled, with anything worked out to improve the lizard. Thanks everyone for discussing possible solutions!

I think the idea that certain rarities must be valuable and if they are not actually valued by users, why then that Subeta must step in and MAKE THEM VALUABLE is not a very good one.

That could be interesting..kind of like what they did to the hustler.

More achievements, perhaps? Funny how after all these years I've only caught one comatose lizard. I can't remember if it has to do with only having the trap in your inventory but not the spray.

Back in those days, the r99s tend to be worth a lot more, including the BR elixirs which are often of that rarity. And despite that, the event happens more commonly.

But most of the items added to the hustler have deflated to the point where they're practically worthless.

The Tempest's probably a better comparison since it's another random event, and even that's seen a lot of deflation. Going through the prizes now, the majority of them are selling for under 25k. Adding exclusive items isn't really a long term solution.

I think it might be a good idea to just expand the rarities that lizards give out, instead of always giving away r99s. Something like:

r99: 5% chance r95-98: 10% r90-94: 15% r80-89: 20% r70-79: 30% r50-69: 40%

(Disclaimer: I made these numbers up off the top of my head. I haven't looked at how many items fall in these ranges, or what kind of prices they go for. This is probably a terrible distribution.)

Actually I really like 's idea (bad math and all) of expanding the pool, though I would cut it off at R80. Now that all the vending machines have been nerfed and aren't giving out higher rarities it would be a nice, infrequent source of those.
