Okay, so I'm releasing my first CW, but I am so completely confused about batches, DTS, etc.
I had originally said in my thread that I was going to be submitting one batch, going on the information that a batch was 10 copies. I then learned that a batch was 5 copies. So then I had to change it to two batches. Okay, no problem, right? Two batches is fine as I had wanted 10 initial copies created. I had also planned on releasing five more copies down the road at some point, but now I'm finding out that even though a batch is five copies, I can't just have one extra batch, I have to have two as you can only submit in increments of 10.
So, I'm assuming I am going to have to change what my thread says... Am I correct in thinking that? I'll either have to have two batches, for a total of 10 copies, or I'll have to have four batches, for a total of 20 items. My thread says that I'm releasing two batches now and one batch later, but I'll either have to up that to two batches later, or get rid of the later batch all together. Am I on the right track?
Also, I have one batch filled (of five), but not the second. Can I have those people who slotted for the first batch receive their items and then the second batch goes in my shop, even if I haven't stated that it will be DTS for that batch?
I don't want to get into trouble for doing this the wrong way, but I'm insanely confused on all of this. Am I think only one who thinks that none of this makes any sense about a batch being 5 copies, but you can only do increments of 10 copies? WTF is that?
Anyways, thank you to anyone who can help out this insanely confused lady! <3
- I was a little confused by all the batch stuff so I asked for help. :D She's awesome, honestly.
You can add all your unfilled batches to your shop as long as you don't alter the number of batches you originally submitted. If that makes sense. My shop is kind of like my storage place for stuff that didn't fill two batches.
- Thank you for the answer! So, I can add my second batch (five copies) to my shop. I've stated publicly in my thread that I wanted to have 15 copies, which I now know isn't possible. And seeing how my item is slotting, I don't think 15 copies would sell. Can I publicly change it so that only 10 copies will be on site?
- Would love your input, too! <3
- I don't see why you couldn't. Just explain that you didn't understand the batch rules and that there will only be ten copies available. Majority of people are understanding :D
Basically when you submit it originally, submit the item as 10. Add the peeps who wanted slots (five will be filled) and they can pay as required. Once the item is accepted, you can toss the rest into a shop where the leftover 5 copies will be available to sell at your leisure.
I've basically been gone for the last two days sorry!
Batch Limits and Slotting; Moving things to your CW Shop after approval: So, sadly, we have to submit in increments of 10. It confused a lot of us at first (it didn't seem clear at first on the submission page).
Basically, everything has to be done in even batches. You can have 2 or 4 or 6 etc.
You can absolutely say "4 batches but only releasing 10 copies now, the last two remaining batches will be released or not at my discretion."
As long as you don't choose more copies than you've stated as your batch/copy limit when you submit, you're in the clear (so you'd select 20 copies, and that puts a permanent total on how many can ever be released, so you won't make any mistakes).
Once the first batch is approved through the slotting system, you can then move the remaining copies to your shop. At that time, you can set the price and then lock them (set a master password), and use the invite function to send out invites to any remaining slotters. After that, if you don't want them to show up in your shop, you just erase the price and hit the edit shop button again. That should at least keep it from physically showing in your shop (though it will still show up in shop search as being there but priced at 0 csc).
Direct-to-Shop (DTS): So this is a method used when you do not take slots and submit the item for approval by checking the direct to shop option on the upload page. Honestly, I don't really recommend this for anything because if you're going to do that, you may as well just select unlimited and then pay for the first batch yourself - you end up with all 5 copies (4 if you have an artist making the items for you) and you can sell the spares at whatever price you planned to slot at and move the item into your shop whenever you're ready, setting the price at whatever you want and choosing to put however many copies in. It's often very close or cheaper than using the actual DTS option.
If you choose DTS, you'll be prompted to pay for the DTS submission price (1300-1600 csc). Once you've paid, it goes in the queue for approval. If/when it is approved, one copy is sent to your inventory and the item is available in your CW Shop, all you have to do is go in and edit the price. If you owe your artist a copy, you'll have to send them the one that you received and then purchase your own copy out of the shop (or vice versa).
Let me know if anything here doesn't make sense! I'm tired so I may have worded things weird haha.
This all makes so much more sense now! Thank you for the help, and .
I wish that staff would make the actual CW submission page a little bit more informative regarding this stuff. It's not cool that people new to this have to hunt through the forums for the answers.
