There was a forum here that died back in January, and this still is an issue that hasn't been addressed. The use of universal font is fine. I'm not talking about that. Sans-serif font is the easiest to read and the least obnoxious.

However, the font size is still an issue. Let's talk about the following:

images under spoilers, drag into new tab to view full
I do have custom css. No, nothing that changes font or font size. I have a year old Windows 10 laptop that is up to date on everything. My display is 1920 x 1080, which is pretty much standard at this point. I'm using Google Chrome at 100% zoom. I have glasses, I wear them at all times, and I even have a hard time reading parts of this website.

Users with dyslexia and those with visual handicaps would most likely have a very hard time reading this site without zooming in closely or using custom css. The main answer we got when this change was originally made was, "You can change it however you like with custom css." That is not a solution, that's a bandage.

Most people who use the internet do not know what css means, let alone how to change it. A lot of people don't know how to change the resolution of their screens or change the percentage at which they are zoomed in. I work for a technology services help line; trust me, if you think that everyone knows how to do something, there are plenty of people who will prove you wrong. Point being, you can't expect everyone to just fix the site on their own. That's the job of those in charge of the coding of the website.

TL;DR: A good chunk of the site is really hard to read, especially for the visually-impaired.

Do you have a suggestion for how the font size should be fixed? Do you think it should just be bigger, like for everybody?

I don't think customCSS is that hard, by the way. You don't actually need to know CSS - there are plenty of users giving out codes you can copy-paste without having to understand them at all.

One way I think Subeta could improve the interface is by offering a simple option - like in the user dashboard, a setting for the font size to be small, medium, or large. It would be really nice if subeta implemented this for a bunch of interface options, so we didn't have to rely on customCSS to change them, but could just select our preferences in a nice form.

What do you think?

I'm with about there should really be a way to change the font around to what we need. I am visually impaired, like seriously so, but I'm also on 1366x768 and for me, the font is juuuuust big enough to be comfortable.

I've long stopped caring about these cosmetic changes. I've patched up a custom css with the help of various users and ever sice I've switched to a 1920x1080 monitor, I've had no issue whatsoever.

However, it is an issue like you've mentionned and I cannot disagree. I've been thinking that maybe if a thread was stickied by an admin or minimod and if on the board, several CSS customized were offered to each and everyone. Of course, we would need help to do that. On the CSS feature, there could be a link back to said board.

That's pretty much all I have.

I just also want to mention,, depending on the browser you're using, you can set a font size minimum.

For chrome, go to settings > show advanaced settings > customize fonts (under "web content") and at the bottom of the tab that pops up, there's a slider for minimum font size. It overrides a site's CSS, so you will never see text smaller than what you set for yourself. It's really helped me with eye strain.

This extends to all websites, naturally.

I had to do what Satyr said because the font size on this site especially was so damn small, and my vision is just fine. It doesn't need to be huge, but jesus, even two pts would be better than nothing.

I do think it needs to be bigger. 10 pt font is pretty small and I don't think that there should be any font on the site lower than that. Really, that's an absolute minimum.

That's actually a really good idea. That would eliminate the need for anyone to have to figure out customCSS to just be able to read the site (which imo isn't asking a lot of a website).

Thank you for this. Wish I knew about it sooner.

Is something happening with the site fonts again? The custom css here doesn't seem to be applying to them. Been about 15 mins now.

I personally haven't had a problem with the font sizes but it's clear others have so some sort of fix would be nice. c:

Was something with fonts or padding tweaked again?

My clock looks even more squished than I remember. I can't even see the colons. A few other things seem more smooshed than usual too.
