Whoops, well, that didn't work because I worded my post poorly (my b), I didn't save what I wrote, and I don't feel like re-writing all that, so for the few people who are actually going to read this, have this post instead!
Short and simple: I'm looking for someone who wants casual RP that involves a lot of general, random chit-chat about our characters.
I like fantasy, especially modern fantasy, and sci-fi; postapoc anything is usually pretty great, though I'm not big on zombies. I enjoy worldbuilding quite a lot. I probably won't be into fandom RP (sorry, it just doesn't do it for me, seeing how worldbuilding and character development are My Bag). I do really enjoy breaking my characters, so if you like character pain, we will probably get along great.
I'm not looking for any particular themes, nor do I have any particular Other Character I'm looking to throw someone up against - anything goes, really. I don't even mind if you prefer to write only one character, but I would ask you be okay with me making about ten thousand NPCs. I always end up doing that, and they all end up having complex backstories, families, the whole nine yards.
I'd prefer shorter posts, between a few sentences to two paragraphs or so, because consistent longer posts tired me out; I don't mind writing opening posts at all, and I don't mind those getting hefty!
I am an adult. I don't mind RPing with people under 18, but if adults make you uncomfortable, now you know. I'm EST and have a full-time job, but I work at a computer - I should usually be able to reply within a reasonable amount of time unless I'm helping patrons or working on a program.
I do have writing samples, and a whole roster of characters I've developed over the years - if you're interested, send me an smail or reply here and we can chat. If we don't click, we don't click, so don't worry about messaging me just to see.
I think I might be interested! I make up characters on the fly all the time, and sometimes in the middle of an rp I'll feel a little burned out and crave something else, or sometimes I'll just get a mad craving for one specific scene and not really care about the rest of the plot, so if you can bear with me on those we'll be golden. A lot of my characters tend to be one-offs, mostly because I don't sit down and draw them or write down all their info but I've made up some pretty lengthy backstories for one-offs before. But I do have a few I'm super attached to, and some of them can be totally changed around to fit certain scenarios/settings.
Maybe you can tell me if there's anything specific you've been in the mood for lately?
EDIT: I ended up making a thread of my own for this, and I go into a heck of a lot more detail about my comforts and whatnot there, so if you don't mind reading a huge wall of text, the link is here!
Hullo. If you're still looking, I'd like to offer myself up, and see if we're compatible? Here goes nothing...
On my profile, there is a link to more fleshed-out RP prefs, info, and a few OCs; perusal strongly encouraged. Still, I'll give you a more precise rundown // response to your post, since I think it's rude to simply refer you elsewhere, as though I didn't just read your post 5x over. 3P
Personally, I am seeking a good, semi-casual partner for world-building and character-driven roleplay(s). As in, the development is more serious, while posts are more casual, and we should coexist in a cozy, comfortable way. More than anything, I love intuitive partners: those who know when a one-liner may be best OR may be unacceptable, depending on the moment; who can make 100 words so strong it count for twice as much; who recognize when elaboration and description may be necessary, but that we already know what our characters look like, or that I really do not care what color the bricks are on that wall right now, etc. I want a partner who doesn't give into purple prose just to impress because it's a huge turn-off. I want someone who reads between lines and responds succinctly with depth. Quality over quantity. I don't care about word counts; I care about word choices! Do you feel the same?
Generally, I prefer to focus on a small handful of main characters (2-4 between us or 1-2 per person) but sometimes lean more 1x1 MCs with solid secondary characters phasing in and out of the action. And I enjoy calling lots of attention to the innumerably NPCs who exist in the world we've built. I too get carried away with "tiny characters," and sometimes, they end up becoming really big and important characters, especially when no one thought it was actually possible. (Whoops! I did the thing!) :x
In regard to genres or themes: fantasy, weird fiction, and sci-fi hit the top of my list in their various forms and different time-frames. I like mixing ideas and variegating worlds. (I have a little more info on such things through my RP page.) I am also not into zombies (would rather have 1984/heavy indurty/cold-war kinds of postapoc, personally, than disease/zombie postapoc stuff). Additionally, I am not into vamps/weres or the like, just so you know. Right now I do not have any particular preferences... I just want something very new, fresh; as long as there is decent world-building, I will be very happy. For me, I am more interested in the psychological and metaphysical aspects -- pushing our characters and breaking the boundaries -- than physical things like excessive gore or smutty romance. In fact, while on the subject, I'll say that I dislike intentional romance or romance-heavy roleplay, and prefer it exists as a sub-plot that carries on near to the end of the main plot, if it becomes possible or present at all. (And personally, I am notorious for OTPing/coupling characters behind their backs, teasing/talking about them constantly within-text and through art, even if it doesn't come to pass or it could never be between them! I will totes be our biggest fangirl.) ❤️
I too am (mostly) an adult (28, technically, and laughing somberly about it). I work full-time in a setting where I will be in no ways able to communicate outside of an occasional text message or reading of an email, should either of those appeal to you at some point. However, when I am home, I'm usually online in some capacity, and I usually have 2-3 days off per week. Still, I don't like to pressure or put high expectations on the frequency of RP with partners, because that's a sure-fire way to burn us both out. Sometimes I'd rather just play Minecraft or work on writing/artwork aside from us and I understand when you're not "feeling it" for a few days for no particular reason. Sometimes it's better to just chat and BS behind the scenes as friends. And again, it's my aim that we are our own biggest fans, so chatting it up about characters, happenings, and plot-points is more than preferable. I love OOC planning and chatting, following posts with messages to one another about ALL THE FEELS, and I .gif bomb lots as well (especially via Subeta or texts). ;x
Similarly, if we hook up for a bit, try to hash something out, but it seems we're not getting far or meshing well with one another, I have no problems parting ways. ❤️ If you determine you secretly dislike me, I'll just crawl back under my moon-rock, and we can pretend this never happened! Huzzah! No harm done. I would rather do that up front than be dropped in the planning or at the start of what I had thought was a promising endeavor that has already filled lots of my time, energy, and heart. QnQ
Apparently, I'm too old and behind on the times to have discord (or know rightly what it really is about) but I do have Skype (out of some obligation to have a way to chat with a few friends who aren't around nearly as often). If discord is somehow super awesome for this or more accessible to you, I wouldn't mind figuring it out, for our mutual benefit.
8x Soooo, if you're interested, feel free to respond here, comment my profile, shoot me an smail, or find my email/skype info through my RP page (again, found on my profile). ❤️
Hey there! If you are still looking I am definitely interested in RPing with you. I am looking for not only an rp partner, but a friend too (:.
I am not a big talker, mostly, but I am semi-lit (and kind of a hardass on MYSELF about spelling lol), so a few sentences to a paragraph. Usually my intros and everything are where I put most of my writing, ya know... background info requires quite a bit of explaining sometimes.
I'm into anything from medieval to futuristic, post apocalyptic and sky pirates seem to be my favorite shit right now, and I tend to like unhuman OCs.. but can play them when it's called for (I have a thing for demon horns, man. I'm sorry :P)
I work full time, but I also have a regular schedule and my work SOMETIMES allows me to post and stuff. If you'd like just smail me or fuck, add me to Skype (I figure no one else is gonna bother reading this) mynervasowl is my SN. Thanks!
