Just found a (rather small) spider in my room and, as always with spiders, I just caught it and took it outside.

Before throwing the little critter over the balcony I took a closer look at it and saw that it had a really interesting coloration. Neon green backside, red front - wow! Curious me decided to google it out of interest. Not sure if that was my best idea because now I found out that my spider is one of two spiders in my country whose bite is potentially harmful for humans (the other one being a water spider). Not deadly luckily but the list of possible symptoms was enough tyvm, lol

Not sure what I would do the next time, should there be a next time (please no). X'D

If I knew a spider was harmful, I'm not sure I'd let it live. Probably not. It'd get the sandal treatment. I am not one for murdering things, but if something like a spider is in my territory and is harmful, it pretty much dies.

I have this contract with spiders, that I assume they know of. It goes like this: If you are outside and not on me or moving quickly towards me, I leave you alone. If you are outside and on me, I will attempt to remove you; if, at that time, you attempt to bite me, you die. If you are inside, I will attempt to remove you, unless you come towards me, and then you die. If you drop on to me, whether inside or out, you die. This includes dropping in front of my face. If you are in my car, you die. If you are bothering one of my cats, you die.

I tend to let spiders live inside. There have been a few occasions where I did catch and release outside. I haven't seen any cool looking spiders in here. They're just the common black ones.

When I was a teen, I was saving a spider from my parents pool and it bit me. I had a red itchy dot, but it went away.

I can't do spiders in any way, shape, or form. I try, but they used to terrify me so bad that I would literally freeze up out of fear. It's gotten a (very, very) little better, and I can now sort-of function enough to figure out how to get rid of the spider... but I just don't. Like, what if they crawl under my skin and have babies and then the sac bursts and there are little baby spiders crawling out of all my face holes?! urghfjlkgshdlkfjgsd

You probably weren't in any danger. Spiders will typically avoid wasting their venom on humans unless they're severely provoked (we're talking violent manhandling); in fact, most stories you'll read about awful spider bites are misdiagnoses of plain old skin conditions such as MRSA, and even dangerous ones like the brown recluse would rather run away from you than bite.

It's also useful to remember that due to the size difference between you and the spider, it often doesn't see you as another animal at all, but part of the scenery - when you have it in your hands, they become a place it has to escape, not a predator it has to defend against.

All that being said, I'd probably be leery of picking up a spider with my bare hands. Especially since they have a habit of running straight up my arm to hide in my clothes. :V Jars and paper for me.

There was a small spider near the ceiling in our break room at work. My coworker saw it when she came in as I was eating and she was freaking out at how huge it was. It wasn't. There were some little freebie shampoos and such like the hotels pass out on our counter for some reason, so she grabbed them and started throwing them at the spider. She didn't hit it, but we were laughing like idiots the whole time - me at how bad a shot she is (she didn't even come close to hitting it) and her just from nerves I guess, lmao. The spider was still just chilling on the wall when I left after my break.

Glad you got the spider out of the way before anyone got bit accidentally.

I was sorting out a small bag of nail polish to make a donation pile today and I pulled a bottle out and a spider crawled out from around the handle and onto my hand. Almost had a heart attack haha! I'm not really afraid of spiders (the small ones anyway...), I just don't want them touching me...

i hate spiders so much omg but like i also don't want to hurt them ?? because they might be just doing their spider thing and catching flies or w/e (plus if i kill one what if it releases a scent and it's family come to collect it and then i'm faced with 147 more spiders hm???)

so if it isn't like ... on me it's fine i guess but i am UNLUCKY because spiders seem to like me?? i have found them in my hair or they fall on my head or just end up on me somehow and i end up shrieking and flailing around A LOT lmao i also have a nice habit of walking into webs so that's a thing too!!!

(i read somewhere that if u seem to be running into spiders or they're a recently recurring symbol in your life then you are heading towards a change as they symbolise that!)

i feel like i'm generally not overly concerned unless they're in my bedroom and it's time for me to sleep because what if they go in my mouth when i sleep??? nope !! i don't think so

so i have to get literally any other person in my house to get it lol (through the method of shouting so i can keep both eyes on it at all times) !! it's ok - i've accepted my fate as someone who can never live alone due to the (very real) risk of swallowing spiders in sleep !!!

I was brought up with spiders being associated with important news of some sort (can be bad or good, it's just quite big news), so it's kind of close to a change thing you read about. C:

Ugh, I am so in fear of spiders. D: I tend just to run away and hope they just go back to wherever they were lurking lmao.

Also, I read that spiders you find inside the house tend to be indoor / house spiders so uh taking them outside and releasing them actually will more or less kill them in the long run because they are not equipped to dealing with the outdoors. Not sure if that's true, but it sure made sense to me?

Except in your case, you probably had a dangerous spider who got indoors? idk Glad you're alright ! Very brave of you. ;3;

Yes, according to what I read this type of spider usually lives outdoors on meadows so I guess it just lost its way somehow and is (hopefully) happy to be back where it belongs. Typical that it decided to visit me out of all people in my neighborhood, I am like a magnet for animal trouble, haha

Also, thank you (and ) for your kind words =3

Tbh I was more concerned about my pets than about myself afterwards. If my arm would hurt for two days and if I got a fever (these are the main symptoms you get after a bite from said spider) I would probably just shrug it off and laugh about my own stupidity but my budgie and bunny...nope, seeing them being in potential danger would kill me so I'm glad that I got the spider out of my house.
