I made a board a couple months ago about house-hunting, but now my fiance and I are officially homeowners! We closed this past Friday and, needless to say, have been moving stuff in and unpacking all weekend. He has moved in, but I won't be "officially" moving in until we get married in September. My parents aren't exactly approving of us living together before marriage. It's a bummer but they're totally cool with me spending all day on weekends/evenings after work over at the house; they just want me to come home to sleep. A little inconvenient, but I can handle that. Our home is only about 10 minutes away from my parents anyway.

But nonetheless, we are very excited to say the least! The essential shopping we had to do over the weekend was miserable because of how much money we had to spend, but it's definitely all worth it. We're the first of our circle of friends to be homeowners (with the exception of one friend who has a condo) so we're looking forward to inviting friends over on the weekend when they're in town and whatnot. We are probably one of the younger, if not youngest, homeowner couples in the neighborhood lol. Some of our neighbors are retired but all of them have been so sweet to us. After purchasing a lawn mower and mowing the lawn (which really needed it ASAP because the previous owner relocated for work, and the lawn hadn't been mowed in months), we realized we didn't have a broom or blower to sweep the grass on the driveway away. Our neighbor overheard us talking about it and then offered us to use his blower until we could go shopping for one. Bless him!

Other than being new homeowners, of course the other thing to be excited for in the near future is our wedding! Lots of big things happening this year for us.

So enough about me. What are you guys excited for? Regardless if it's coming up in the future or has happened recently!

Congratulations!! That's so exciting! :D

For me, my first year of my MA program is nearly done. I'll be finished the second week of May so its coming up!! I received a research grant to head out to NE over the summer to go through some archives. Everyone is super excited about my WWII puppy project. I cannot wait to get out there and uncover stuff. In more coming up news, I am attending a domestic pig lecture on Thursday and the curator of our local anthropology museum on campus wants to meet with me tomorrow. They're installing a dog exhibit next spring and she wants to talk to me. :)

Congrats on being home owners! I can online imagine the stress but pure joy that comes with it!!!

I'm excited for summer just around the corner. Every summer I work with a good group of friends in a renovated barn doing small shows and comedy nights. I work lighting design for them and this is my fifth summer working with them. It's a close knit group and I absolutely love working there. A few nights a week we all put in a ton of hard work to pull together show for kids and comedy nights for adults. Usually covered in sweat and sawdust by the end of it but I love them all so much!

First off, oh my gosh I love your UN and HA! And thank you :) And congrats to you finishing up your first year of Masters! That is awesome and I'm sure it wasn't easy. I got my Bachelor's last May but I highly doubt I'll get a Masters LOL. Super curious about what your WWII puppy project entails. And what's your major/what are you wanting to do for a living?

Both of us had lived with our parents. I went away for college for only one year (before I decided to transfer to a university closer to home where I lived with my parents) and he had never lived outside the house from his parents, so it's totally a new experience. It's been busy as heck but once we get all of this initial stuff down, we'll be able to relax.

Oh that sounds exciting! I had worked for my county's parks department for six years. Not the same thing, but I totally get the entertainment for kids and adults thing during the summer especially. So is it seasonal work essentially?

Yeah we are only up and running for the summer, we move in the first day of June and work for three solid months almost non-stop. Not a ton of money involved but we make it work through donations and years of reputation build up!

Big congrats to you!

Sounds sad but I'm excited like a little child because I have SIX lousy days of vacation. You have to appreciate the little things in life, right?

Yea! You'll have to forgive me because I am THE WORST when it comes to social studies: history, geography, you name it. It's not my strong suit LOL.

That's what my summer job felt like! My hours were so broken up so I'd work mornings, afternoons, and evenings as well. Typically I'd be going into my first shift at 8:30 am and wouldn't be "officially" done until 8:30-9 pm. I'd have an hour lunch break and then maybe a two hour break inbetween my afternoon and evening shifts lol. It's a commitment for sure! That really does sound like a fun and interesting time though!

Thanks! And oh my gosh, I totally feel you! I just began my new job this past January. I've got no seniority so I don't have like, any days of vacation lol. I'll be given a week once I'm here for six months but I'll be using that on the honeymoon lol (which will totally be worth it.) My fiance was so lucky! Throughout college/university he worked for a grocery store and then the corporate office for the same company hired him right out of college. His seniority transferred over so he's got all this vacation time and I'm so jealous.

It'll be the same for me because in summer I'm starting a new job - then it's six months of no vacation for me, as well. Not looking forward to it but what can you do? .___.

Honeymoon sounds awesome, I wish you a wonderful time! Where are you going?

(I also totally understand that you are jealous, you fiance was lucky indeed. I want my seniority to be transferred as well, lol)

Oops I never got the notification of a ping.

At least you got a new job! That's good news. It's just a bummer to work up that seniority again. What will you be doing? Yea my last job (during college) and my current job are no where near the same line of work. He's got like 3 weeks of vacation starting off at this new job and I'm like, screw you. Lol

Disney World! Neither of us have been before and since it's going to be expensive regardless, we're like "screw it, let's go for our honeymoon." We'd be going early October and I assume that since it's in the fall rather than summer, and that the kids will be in school, it shouldn't be too terrible in terms of how crowded it'll be? But it's also the month of Halloween so idk. Though truthfully we still have to actually plan and book everything lol.

I'm excited about selling the items in my shop on here and not being so damn broke anymore, haha.

I'm also excited...and apprehensive that it won't work...about losing weight. I'm taking a hypnotherapy session next month. I really hope it works, but I'm kind of 50/50 on my belief in that sort of thing. At least I've gotten myself to work out more - walking and doing work outs on the Sworkit app. My biggest problem is food. I like it too much. Or I should say that I like the wrong stuff. I have a strong aversion to certain textures, most of which come from fruit and veggies, especially lettuce and tomatoes. If I could just get over that and learn to love them, I'd be just fine. Hell, I'd even go vegan, which is what I want to do more than anything. So I'm excited about this hopefully working.

I'm also SUPER EXCITED about going to Washington DC on April 29th for the Climate March. I've never gone this far from home (Michigan) on my own before and I've never done an event like this before, but for whatever reason (even though I have major anxiety) I'm not anxious at all and instead I'm super frigging excited, lol. I say I'm going 'on my own' but I'll be with a bus of 54 people that I don't know. Most are from a Sierra Club about 100 miles away from me. I don't know a single one of them. But I'm still not nervous at all...I guess because this issue, climate change, is so important to me.

Not entirely sure yet, I am still waiting for a call and sent some other apps out as well. In my job (health care) you are never jobless though so I'm quite sure I'll have my new job in summer - wherever it will be. XD

Disney World during Halloween sounds like a lot of fun!

Good luck with your plan of losing weight! I have lost 45lbs durin the last couple of months and it feels good even though it wasn't planned in my case - just happened, lol

Oh healthcare. That is a good career because you're right, you're never jobless. Some of my friends graduated as nurses and got jobs pretty quickly. I just didn't think it was the right path for me lol. I wish you luck!

Ok so I'm dirt poor in Subeta terms (and have been for as long as I've been here) so I feel you there. I'm debating on getting a ton of items for my shop, then buying a GA account to autoprice everything but I hope the purchase of a GA medal will be worth it lol. They're just so expensive nowadays, even for a week medal!

Good luck on the weight loss! That's something I've been wanting to do as well. I've got some stomach fat I'd love to get rid of, but food tastes too good bahaha. I've eaten a lot of fastfood recently but now that we bought a home and just purchased a grill, we're going to learn to cook new things and hopefully eat healthier. (We've bought a ton of fruits and vegetables). The hard thing is I know how much it would help to drop soda and drink a ton more water, but it's just hard because I love Dr. Pepper lol. I drink a good amount of water but obviously not the amount they recommend a day. I know what you mean about the textures thing. You just don't want to eat anything that gives you that kind of vibe, but it's hard to overcome it as well!

Also, good luck with the march coming up! This past October while my fiance was away for three weeks for work in California, his company actually paid for a plane ticket to and from California and for hotel expenses for me to spend a weekend there with him. I travelled completely by myself and hadn't been on a plane since I was 7 so I was a nervous wreck and was like "But what if I accidentally board the wrong plane and go to New Zealand or something." bahahaha completely irrational. It's so worth it though! It'll be a great experience for you, especially for something that means so much to you. Are you just going to be in DC for the march or are you going to do some sight-seeing as well? I've never been to DC before.

I was the same but decided to give it a try and it seems that it works for me. At least our residents never complained, haha The call I am waiting for is from an institution for physically and/or mentally challenged people. Had a six week long internship there last year and it was amazing so I hope I can come back for good now.

It'll probably just be for the march - I doubt I'll have time for any sightseeing. I'd love to though. The last time I was there, I was probably around 10. But it'll be a good time nonetheless!

Good luck with your eating healthier too. I sure would like to give up pop myself. Have you tried Zevia? It's pop, but it's sweetened with stevia extract instead of sugar, so it's better for you.

Ohhh having an internship definitely helps! The company would already know what to expect from you. I had an internship but it was with the job I worked with through college. I knew there would be no opportunities for me there only because of budgets. Plus they already had a marketing person which is my expertise. I wish you luck!

Ah I see. My parents went towards the end of last year and loved it. (Mom has been before, but not Dad.) I"m sure it would be cool to see. I'm not political in the slightest though bahaha but still!

Truthfully I haven't heard of Zevia before. I'll look into it. I always drank pop because my parents bought it. I one time had a week where I went without it but then I went to Taco Bell and was like "well you have to drink pop with Taco Bell, am I right??" and then that went out the window. I've considered doing it again though. I think cutting out the amount of times we got fast food for convenience reasons will help a ton though.

Props to you for wanting to go vegan as well though. I don't think I could ever give up eating meat if I have to be perfectly honest lol.

Going vegan won't be a problem for me at all, once I get past the texture thing. I never liked meat or the idea of eating anything from an animal anyway.

You're totally right about the pop with tacos thing though, lol. When I have pizza, I 'have to' have it too.

YEA DEFINITELY. You can't drink water with pizza. Pop and pizza are meant to be together.

It is! Granted, I steered away from sales because I never wanted to be a salesperson. I interviewed for the position once, only because it was a stepping ladder position where all employees are required to begin with sales. But during my second interview where I shadowed an employee at a store, he told me it could get pretty rough. People cussed at him all the time and one girl who had just started working ran away crying from all the hate she got and ultimately quit the job, and I was like NOPE. I already know that I wouldn't do well under that pressure lol.

Wow, that really sounds like a store you wouldn't want to work - good that you found something else and didn't have to start there. I really wonder why some places are like that, I mean what's so wrong about a good climate at a job?
