I wanted to do this "secret organization" plot... monster hunting mercenaries that operate from the shadows keeping mankind safe. Few would know about their existence but since they have ties with the government they would have ample funding. The catch is that some of their members are also monsters that have been coerced into cooperating.
Rather than having this be 100% pity party for the monsters it would be kind of both parties faults. Monsters are few in number but very strong. They could use this to bully humans simply because they can. Some of them need to feed on humans. Some of them are bitter that humans are taking over their land or take out their grievances with the organization on innocent bystanders. Some of them lack the ability to think in human terms. Some threaten the veil of secrecy by making their presence public which could lead to mass hysteria.
The mercenary group tries to tackle this issue by generalizing. They also threaten monsters with weaker willpower to join. Some monsters were raised so close to humans that they don't find the need to rally for the cause and can be bribed in. If you're a monster once you're in you don't get out. The organization would be the bigger fish in this because they would have the numbers as well as specialist trained to deal with monsters effectively. The only moral height they have over the monsters is that their top priority is secrecy. If humans were to become aware of monsters a war might escalate from the hysteria. Neutral monsters use that secrecy to make personal gains or to access food easier. Without secrecy monsters wouldn't have access to civilization or material goods. Not to mention against the entire human race the monsters would lose.
There would also be a resistance force headed by monsters made up of much smaller smaller resistance groups. Due to a lack of organization among the groups, they're more like gnats than a threat. The resistance would be focused on rallying monsters or getting people working from within. A few humans might be in this group if their loved one is a monster but the resistance doesn't try to recruit humans.
My goal is to make it so one could fit pre existing OCs in here if they wanted yet make a new OC if inspired. I'm also seeing modern to semi-futuristic as long as that's the consensus. I haven't rped my new OC yet so I thirst for a roleplay at almost any cost. While I have a saga's worth of world building on this, for the sake of actually pulling off a rp I'm willing to "go with the flow" as long as the people within each faction are willing to agree with the others among their faction on details as they come up. I don't care as long as the outlined idea is present. That being said, I have rank titles and faction names planned out well in advance. I can fill in any information that absolutely needs to come first if people didn't want the hassle of coming up with stuff as a group.
This would be a serious, slow, and possibly long rp that could be broken into "episodes." Depending on the group and where we rp things might branch off and "episodes" might get cut off and their resolutions discussed later. If we end up on a chat based site all I ask is that people avoid the temptation one liners. I'm not expecting immediate replies since I work full time and I hate double standards.
If we got multiple people in each faction that would be cool or, if enough people want it, we could come up with a third faction. I really am open to any and all ideas. If you have a preferred rp site I am willing to hear it. I HIGHLY recommend a site called RP VOID since it has every feature a roleplayer could dream of for a chatroom. Private rooms? Check. Sub-rooms for branching off roleplay? Check. Avatar creation? Check. Coin flips? Dice rolls? Reply notifications? Multiple avatars and bios under one account? Seriously this site is a gem. If not we can do it here as an open RP or an sMail rp 1x1.
I was also hoping that each roleplayer in this group would be able to use 2-3 characters max, especially in a smaller group. If enough people are opposed to that I wouldn't be upset I'm just used to having a fall back OC in case of an emergency.
Things I'm chill with:
Things I'm stubborn about:
I don't want to restrict a type of monster heck-- I don't want to be limiting in any way-- but I have five trouble species in mind that for the sake of harmony I'm not going to call directly.
Basically, every time someone has a character that is of a more popular species it's crazy OP. The creators of OCs like this get their lore off a modern TV show or an anime without doing any research. I love all monsters equally... but it's kind of hard to role play when one of your partners breaks the mold to the point their character is unrecognizable or worse... OP. Please either research or give your characters enough weaknesses they aren't Gods compared to the rest. If you change lore PLEASE discuss what you're changing.
Custom species are welcome if reasonable but under the same request that you provide a detailed description.
