Back on the 15th, on the way down to Dulles, I applied for a photography job on a whim in the backseat of my Dad's car. On my phone. (I'm still laughing about that.) Today, about 15 minutes ago, I got the text that I got the job. I can't stop grinning, I've been happy crying too, I can't believe that the job I applied for on a whim on the day of my trip came through! I'm so happy!

@ Hanzo that's awesome big congrats to you! :D
When does it start?
I've been looking for over a year, I'm just like dying a little from glee.
I don't know yet, I'm working on the background check stuff and tracking down immunization records.

@ Hanzo I can imagine! I am currently waiting for a call too and hope it will come. I really want this job. Q__Q
I wish you the best of luck that everything goes well and that you can start your job soon.
You too!

They're providing both the training and the equipment, past that, it's a field I've always loved so it's not something I'd mind doing for a long time. It also seems I'm telecommuting vs actually having someone lurking over my shoulder. (Which thrills me to no end.)

YAY CONGRATS I'M HAPPY FOR YOU.
My fiance's sister is actually a photography major in college. I asked her to do our engagement pictures because she has a ton of pictures of nature and things, but hasn't had many opportunities to take pics of people. Turned out awesome. And my uncle is also a photography and I asked him to be the photographer for our wedding.
Will you be taking photos of anything in particular, or just sort of a bit of everything? My gosh that's so awesome that filling out an application over the phone heading to vacation resulted in you landing this job lol.
THANK YOU!
Oh, how cool!
I'm going to be doing newborn photography in hospital, hence having to have the massive background check I'm undergoing right now. So much paperwork, omg. That vacation was like one of the best things to ever happen to me, I'm not kidding.

congrats!
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
Thanks!

Oh my goooosh that has to be one of the happiest photography jobs ever, lol. Man I can only imagine the process you have to go through with for those background checks lol. When do you start?
Glad to hear you had a great vacation! Sometimes it's just really needed.
I know, right?? I'm excited to start with it. Well, the one aspect of said uber background check can take up to two weeks so I'd say sometime in May if all goes perfectly? I don't honestly know the start period yet, lol.
I still live at home due to a lot of reasons - insane rent and no decently paying jobs in the area primarily - so getting away from the parents was something of a gift. XD

Ahh I see. May isn't bad!
The job market is just...blah. Took me around 7-8 months after I graduated college to find a job myself. And I totally feel you, I'm living at home currently until I get married at the end of September. I love my parents and all but...I'm at the age I'm ready to move out lol.
Now it's just going through paperwork to see what I can do now until I track down some records (which are currently missing in action) and what can't be done until training is done.
Uhg, the job market is pathetic right now yet you still get grief for being unemployed or living at home or both. It's still an insult to be at home with your parents but there's no easy way to get out on your own right now???

Good ole paperwork. They're always MIA when you need them the most. Just like simple, everyday items it seems xD
The job market is such a bummer. That, and companies are just so picky when it comes to experience. I had applied for the most entry-level position this one company had, where I was told in the interview people always climb the ladder from this position, and I received a rejection e-mail which essentially stated "we accepted someone with more experience." Like, what. Sorry that I've been too busy being a college student for this exact field.
I mean it's honestly smart to just stay at home rather than moving out when you can't afford it, at least in my opinion?? I've had plenty of friends get an apartment because they'd rather go away for college, but then ended up not being able to afford it. I stayed at home throughout college (with the exception of one year when I lived on campus) because I'd rather be living in a house than a dorm room or paying for rent on an apartment when I wouldn't have been able to afford it unless I picked up a second job. I know some people frown upon it more than others, but it's like dang, we'd be out if we could financially, lol.
congratz! hope you love your job and hopefully pay is good too ^_^
I just wanna be pretty...
