I think the purpose is to have another (random) option to earn Trinkets because if you manage to win he'll drop you a bag of them.

I never got his RE (guess he's afraid of me, lol) so I have no idea if there's a best weapon for him or if it's just random, sorry.

- It's a simple game of rock, paper, scissors, and as far as I know the outcome is entirely random. There doesn't seem to be any strategy, so I just click whatever. :P

Ah, okay :D That's really good, because I can't see anything on that page other than the weapons, so I'd have no way to know which weapon is good against another! ^^

The rapier (the one on the left) beats the dagger (in the middle) beats the flatsword (on the right) beats the rapier. The rapier outreaches the dagger, which is more manouverable than the flatsword, which breaks the rapier.

All of the NPC Gossips are the lords and ladies of the Atebusian high society, we Subetans are just visitors. We know from previous site events that NPC Boudewijn is a disagreeable man and is not as much of a lush as Anthony who might pick a fight but is too drunk. So of course it's Boudewijn will be picking fights during the Ball.
