Another family complaint.
I called my parents a little after 1pm. I asked my mom if she wanted to go out and she said "I'm going out with your brother. I don't even know if I want to go. I'm sore". I'm thinking, great, she's going out with my brother AGAIN. She rarely goes out with me anymore and I've already approached her and asked why she prefers him to me. She said it's not favoritism, but I don't believe that. I mean, my brother has his own car; unlike me, I have to borrow my dad's van. So, back to going out. I'm thinking it's perfect because I'd like to go to WalMart for a few items. I told her I'll be tagging along, and she told me "It's not nice to invite yourself". Ok. I asked her to put my brother on the phone. I asked him if I can tag along. He said "I guess". I say that I only need to go to WalMart and I was abruptly told he wasn't stopping there and that he had other plans of only going to the movies and coming home. Again, I don't believe that. WalMart is literally in town on the way to the movie theater, but my brother is going to drive the opposite direction to bring their neighbour newspapers because he's in the hospital.
I'm kind of.. ticked off. I ask my dad if I can use the van and he said no, because it doesn't make sense to have two vehicles going to town and that I can go to WalMart next week after my vet appointment with Buddy. Sorry, no. He's a bird and I can't leave him in the cold. This seems to be my dad's answer for everything, to do it when I'm unable to.
My mom called me back asking what ingredients I need. I start telling her and she says "I'm supposed to go and see the neighbour and I'm already late". So, I respond with "Why are you asking me what I need?" and she proceeds to call me rude and that she can't get anything for me.
I am so tired of my family. If I had my own car (and could afford it), I'd be going out for things I need all the time. I'm also so sick and tired of wasting my breath asking her to go out and the answers I always get are "no".
Advice?
Are there any bus? Can you buy a bus card or some tickets? You can't force them to give you a lift. You can also give them money as a "bribe" I guess.
I did think of going by bus, but it'll be hard to tote toilet paper, paper towels and a few bags of groceries. I work tomorrow, so I can always get my dinner ingredients before work. Point is, I wanted to make it tonight because I have problems with my feet and I won't be able to stand by the time I get home.
I use these big recycle bags from grocery stores to carry paper towels etc. It's very easy to carry. You can always use a second bench in the bus or store your things between your legs. You can always ask a coworker to give you a ride or something. Unfortunately, unless you go by yourself ... there aren't anything that can be done. You can also ask a friend to get your things if they are in the area too.
You can buy all of those things online (toilet paper, paper towels, even some grocery items). If you have Amazon prime, you can get free 2-day shipping as well as Prime Pantry, which has a lot of household supplies. Even if you don't have prime, you could still buy a lot of things online, they just might take a bit longer to ship, but that just means you have to plan a little in advance.
There's some items you won't be able to get online, like more perishable foods, but there are tons of canned and boxed food items that you could get as a replacement. It's also not the most cost-effective but it works if you can't physically go to the store for whatever reason.
As for getting to the store, you can see if your town has taxis, a lift service like uber/lyft, and buses. I used to walk/bus to the grocery store all the time (still sort of do) and our setup is a backpack on the back, bag (or two) on the shoulder, and 1-2 bags in each hand on the way home. If there's too much stuff, sometimes I'd even hang a bag on my neck :P It probably looks silly but hey, it gets the groceries home. The heaviest things and most fragile things go in the backpack. Small things go in coat pockets. We use cloth bags, like tote bags and stuff, to be environmentally friendly. If you use plastic bags from the store, double-bag things cuz it's important that the bags don't break. So yeah... It's a bit of work, and you have to move stuff around and even use your pockets sometimes, but you'd be surprised just how much one person can carry home by themselves :)
I understand getting annoyed at your family- It sounds like they just don't want you around, and I totally understand why that's upsetting. But that's their problem, and like said, you can't force them to give you a ride, so if they're being difficult the next best option is to try and do what you need by yourself.

Oh yeah.. I've walked plenty of times to the store and back, or I took the bus home. WalMart is the cheapest place for toilet paper, paper towels and even some other groceries because out here in the valley, everything is $4-7 more. I also can't carry a lot of heavy items because of my back, so I generally find getting a ride easier.
I'm always getting annoyed with my family. They sometimes make me feel inadequate.
Sounds like you need to make some friends then where you live :/ I know that's easier said than done. But when you can't rely on your family, maybe it's better to get away and try to find better people to be around.

Walmart has 2-day shipping now on a lot of items (including toilet paper and paper towels) and shipping is free if you spend $35+
I've tried it out and it works great, really convenient! I highly recommend you check it out :)
