The gold and silver flipper coins can't be used anywhere. They also don't have any use options so mostly they're just items that are good for pet treasure or get asked for in quests.

If you go to the page for the machine it shows you which coins it will accept.

Also, if you type the @ symbol and then a person's username it will ping them to let you know that you're responding to them. Or you can click the little megaphone picture on their post and it will autofill the person's ping for you.
