Hi everyone, I recently created little Taiko. Could you tell me whether this name sounds female or male to you? What are some words that come to mind when you hear this name and what species would fit this beautiful name? I just can't seem to figure out whether this little one is going to be male or female and I'd love for 'it' to not remain genderless so I can start on his/her story.

I would go with female because if it were a japanse name then the ending -ko would be used for a female name like the names Aiko or Tamiko c: And for the species and color I usualy go by something that matches the character and the story^^

Taiko like the drums? 8D Sounds unisex to me. If I had to side with one I feel it has a more masculine vibe to it, but then again I named my pet cat 'Catterson' so i'm probably not the best person when it comes to suggestions. XD ❤️

the name sounds a bit masculine to me but really any gender would be fine with that name. taiko is a type of japanese drum so maybe the pet could have a musical theme? they were used in warfare and drums are generally associated with power, so maybe a fierce-looking pet like a reborn legeica or neela, or a storm archan.

It's a cute name that can go either way, I feel. -ko is feminine, but I get a very neutral vibe from the name as it is.

If it was my pet, I'd probably opt to keep things as is and just use they/them/theirs as pronouns. There's not enough nonbinary pets out there, and the name works nice.

sounds male because of the taiko game i love to play in the arcade c: the ko does allude to a childlike sound so a chibi pet would be cute, maybe an aspiring drummer who always gets shot down by his parents bc "music has no future" or something along those lines idk q.q
