This is a do or die post. I have some problems with Subeta I want to state. One of the NPC's bothers me. I don't like Jogoh. I think transgendered people who intruduce themselves as transgendered are people who think that it can be treated like it's your whole idenity and it's a step backwards from acceptance. I dislike the community on subeta. As a cis- gendered I feel excluded from the majority of this site. I also dislike the safespace attitude that prevails even in the forum guidelines. I'm pretty sure the debate forum got removed not because people were getting too up in arms but because the majority of this site fears being offended. This is a site that literally bans debates and the debates here are quite civil.

If the mods lock this topic I'll know i was right. I have a disenting opinion

Hmm...Maybe it's because I'm older (but not intolerant - I have a degree in Women's Studies and Queer Theory), but I do find it bizarre that some players make such a big deal about their gender/sexual preferences (presumably the younger demographic, which is why I can't relate to it). The fact that so many people have their gender and sexual orientation listed on their profile, forum signature, or talk about it ALL the time on the forums is very odd to me. It's one thing to slip it into casual conversation if it's relevant, or to post a topic asking for advice, etc., but broadcasting it just "because" - weird. I don't see people doing the same with race or religion, for example, and those are also defining identity characteristics. I certainly don't agree with some of your points, or feel "left out" because I'm a straight cis woman, but I've noticed a common occurrence in some online communities, where people want to stand out, get attention or be different in some way, so they advertise certain things. Mental illness is another big one - seems like a lot of users "flaunt" having certain mental health issues not as something to raise awareness to, or share as a coping mechanism, but almost to say, "look how special and unique I am, I have bi-polar AND anxiety AND OCD AND I'm a gender fluid dolphin who sometimes identifies as a killer whale".

I really try not to judge, especially because I think it's great that people can now speak more openly about certain topics, but I really do get the feeling that for some users it's not done in an honest and well-meaning way, but as a means to elicit sympathy/interest.

Also, I think it's awesome that we have representation of trans/asexual NPCs, and I don't see how it affects your user experience in the slightest - but it might make a trans member feel better about themselves to see and relate to a trans character being openly admired and respected by others. Representation does matter, so try to see it from another perspective.

Well its a fact that lots of people can't be open and have to hide who they actually are in most of their places in life, so I'm sure it's nice for people who do have to deal with having to hide themselves to have a place to open up and to see others okay with doing the same. It's a step forward.

As you are already aware, threads that are debates are not appropriate on Subeta and go against the Community Guidelines. If you have to tell people to not debate, then you know the thread is not appropriate for the site.

If you have specific feedback to give staff regarding the site or any of the changes that were made, you can post it in the Site Feedback forum as long as you follow the Community Guidelines in your post. If you have concerns specifically about why the debate forum was removed, made a post about the removal and reasons why here: Debate Forums
