Does the zombies receive a official name from staff besides the names we choose? I remember seeing other names around like Swan Flu for Faceworm and Rose Acea for Lobster Face, are those "official" names?
usually, the users name the strains in the early stages, and i think it's majority ruled maybe? i'm not entirely sure. i know one year there was a poll and a few different names, but ultimately the names were the ones that had the most votes. and then the official names are given from the user decided ones. as far as i know staff doesn't have anything to do with the naming
I see... O know about the voting, but i was curious because of those names i mentioned, they fit much better so I imagined It was a original name given by staff
The only "official" names we have are the ones displayed in the wardrobe, which as far as I know were all (or mostly) chosen by the users. I think in past years they pretty much went with whatever seemed to stick the most with the userbase, but last year (iirc) and this year the users on the strain tracking threads actually set up polls to vote for the names.
idk if maybe Lobster Face was more popular that year or something but I personally like the Rose-acea pun
Like said, users vote on what they want to name the strains, and whatever the winning name is becomes "official". The other names you see around are just other popular names that users use because they prefer them. For example, the winning name for the encompassing strain this year was "Caterkiller", however many people are still referring to it as "Moth Man".
You can call 'em whatever you prefer really, the only strains the staff named as far as I know were the 2015 aquatic strains and 2014 vials. But Lobster face stuck better than Roseacea because of the early stages, Roseacea is definitely more fitting at the end so it's really up to you what you want to call it. Most people here will know you mean the rose strain if you say Lobster Face OR Roseacea :)
