jesus make sure the clipart has that weird early 2000s 'coloring outside the lines' feel you know, for effect
(some months ago we had a guest lecturer who gave a presentation with a plain black background and red text on top. all in comic sans. it was maddening)
I cringed, oh Lord.

LOL some people - COMIC SANS. X'D
I'm sorry that you have to be part of this group, ! I think I would die of embarrassment on page one of the presentation...that, or I'd call in sick just to save my life and reputation.
it was ; - ; admittedly the guy was like 70 so maybe just... didn't know any better? people started walking out halfway through the lecture it was that bad lmao
Lol something like this is the exact reason why I hate group projects. I cringe every time I see Comic Sans on anything "professional", which unfortunately, is quite often. ;^;
Good luck with the presentation. xD
Ahaha, good luck and have fun with that. Truthfully I find it kind of funny that the issue is not necessarily the content of the presentation, but the font. The clipart thing is a good joke xD
In December, my friend accidentally submitted her final paper in the Wingdings font lol. I told her "How in the world did you manage that one?" and to this day, she still has no recollection of how it happened. She said luckily her professor just changed the font to Times New Roman and gave her no penalty towards the grade.
That's so embarrassing. I'm a graphic designer, and any time a customer comes in and says how about Comic Sans, I almost always pretend we don't have that font.
Hate Comic Sans. I'm actually taking an Intermediate Microsoft Word in college for easy credits, and all the homework we have to do looks so 1999/2000. Lame fonts and clip art. If I saw a business advertising with the projects we have to make I would roll my eyes.
nooooooooooooooooooooooo that's like wearing crocs to a formal dinner
Hahaha oh lord that would make my day to see that
Whoa dude, she was lucky for no penalty on that one! Still, makes for a great story xD I dunno if it's funnier or more tragic but the presentation is talking about self-harm in adolescents. //headdesk
People walked out? Aaahhaha that's so bad. I hope he didn't feel too upset! I know there are some pretty awful lecturers at my uni - there's usually only 5 people that turn up to their lectures and they end up sending passive aggressive emails to everyone about attendance ><
You have no idea how tempted I am to call in and say I have the runs or something >.>
Edit: Also I forgot to mention that this entire comic sans drama is my fault. My group started making the font into something really cursive and fancy - so I suggested maybe we should just stick to a regular font for ease of reading, and that people with visual impairments might struggle with bonkers fonts. Then baaam.. someone mentions comic sans being easier to read for people with dyslexia and everyone starts nodding and saying they really like that font as well and I'm just there making a clip art joke thinking they're all just messing around.. until someone's like 'uh.. no.. no clipart in a professional presentation...'
excuse me im gonna cry now
Make sure you get Clippy and UT Sans in there as well ;)
I remembered during a science presentation, how a group used Powerpoint animations so terribly. This is how a slide went:
@ Dotty
Well, I wouldn't blame you for that. X'D When is the presentation if you are okay with sharing that?
Oh, how did the practice presentation go? Was it a success?
uhm. It didn't go badly? We had feedback from the other groups who said that they found our slides were not linked together very well, like one slide didn't really lead into the next. It wasn't really surprising to get that feedback because it was pretty much a product of us all working individually on our own slides and then throwing it all together in the end. Buuut, I think I upset a member of my group. There's one guy who hasn't been that active within the group work - but I think he has some personal issues going on in the background. One girl suggested that he go away and think about how his slides relate to the rest of ours and the scenario as a whole and it got me kinda mad. I ended up saying that it was unfair to tell him to do that when that's the reason we're in this position, instead we need to all sit down together and work on everyone's slides as a group. She went really quiet after that and I'm concerned that i was too forceful.
Ughhh group work.
In my opinion you were absolutely right. I mean, it's team work so everyone should sit together and figure out a solution especially if it's about such an important decision - it's not just him who is to blame so why put everything on his shoulders now? Okay, he maybe wasn't that active in the group before but he has his reasons according to what you've said so there's no need to punish him imo. If she's mad or whatever she might have to look up the meaning behind team work.
I can relate however, team work can be awesome if you are together with the right people but if you are not it can be annoying like a bag of fleas.
I think in general me speaking up like that was more of a frustration of people acting that way towards him for awhile now. I don't think the girl who said really meant it to come across in a bad way and I think if I could redo the situation I would have addressed my statement more towards the whole group as oppose to just her? But yeah, i still stand by what I said. I feel kinda bad for him sometimes because he just looks so.. confused! like people keep telling him what to do and he just kinda nods but then if I ask him if he understands he's like '..nope'. xD
I can see how with the right people it could be a lot easier! Unfortunately most of our uni stuff is random allocation and it sucks balls. D:
