why is the book called 'carnivale' if its cover clearly reads 'carnival' and it's about... the carnival??

LOL I've never noticed this before, but that is kind of weird. I don't even think carnivale is a proper spelling at all, at least not in English.

as far as i know, in the english language, carnivale specifically refers to the celebration (the most well-known one being brazil's). not really the same thing as a carnival so... yeah i really can't figure this one out.

That's what I thought as well, and yeah it's not the same. Plus there is just the discrepancy between the item name and what's written on the book. It's just strange.
