My memory is terrible, I can't remember from last year and the FAQ doesn't seem to answer my questions (wasn't sure if I could post in that thread or not). I signed up for a virus (Lobster Face) yesterday not too long after the start of the event. On the VIP page Gunner says:
Thanks for participating in the Volunteer Infection Program! We have high traffic volume right now, I hadn't quite anticipated the popularity of my little project! We'll be sure to match you with an Infection Specialist soon! You may be able to find a match sooner by posting on the forums!
You've still got some time to wait, but you will receive an event once you've received your chosen virus! Below that is the link to change my mind.
In the virus list the link for Lobster Face is highlighted in green, but I can still click it and still get the "are you sure" dialog. I clcked it again just to make sure, but I didn't pay attention to my on-hand sp so I don't know if it charged me again (I won't be too bothered if it did, sp is sp)
I've been bitten several times, the link under my HA reportedly says Infected. I was under the impression that once that link says Infected you no longer need to be bitten or in fact became ineligible to be bitten even by someone with the same virus, but I can't remember. For me, everyone else's link says No Biting, which I assume is because I AM infected but my virus hasn't progressed enough for me to bite people. Right? Do I still need to be bitten? Will that make the virus progress faster? When does Gunner's info for me change?
Help? I feel so dumb lol.
It seems like you might still need to be bitten some more times, because I don't see the red of the first stage of Lobster Face on your HA yet.
And once you are infected, it should say this on the VIP page:
Thanks for your interest in becoming an Infection Specialist!
Unfortunately, your strain hasn't progressed far enough for your bite to be effective, but try again later!
Thanks! So even though my thingy says Infected, I'll still need to be bitten until the first stage shows up? If the person biting me stops biting, it would just mean a longer wait until the first stage shows up, right?
You should get an event alert telling you when you've been infected as well, so if you haven't gotten that then you probably aren't infected. I think the "Infected" and "No Biting" images are a bit glitched right now even though biting was fixed. So it seems like you do still need some more bites.
And yeah, if you don't get bitten enough after a couple of days, I think the first stage will show up on its own. But that means you have to wait longer and will have less time to get other strains. So definitely try to get bitten if you can find someone to do it. 😊
Okay, good to know, thank you! One of the other people being bitten seems to finally be infected, so I guess it's just a waiting game. I don't remember having to be bitten so many times last year, but it could just be that I didn't notice. XD Thanks again!
