You do know that having a blind hamster is a lot of work, right? You'll have to hand feed him and make him drink water on a regular basis.

Buy a bottle of saline solution and keep the eye clean and hydrated. I hope for him that it clears up.

Oh no, he's not blind. His other eye is fine. He lost one of his eyes in December due to an infection and that socket is infected.

Please don't take this the wrong way, as I in no way mean any judgment or meanness towards you. I have seen a lot of your posts here, and it sounds like you have a lot of pets to take care of... but it also sounds like you are struggling a lot financially. If it's to the point where you're struggling to pay for the care your pets need and deserve, maybe it would be best to see if you can give them (or just some of them) to somebody else to take care of, until you're in a better situation yourself. You could ask friends and family, or find new owners through advertisements (like on craigslist)...

I'm not making a demand - just a suggestion. But I wanted to put this out there because I'm worried about you and your pets. It seems like they've had a lot of health problems lately - which isn't your fault - but it puts more emotional and financial stress on you as well to have to take care of them when you're struggling.

You wrote in this post "I can't afford $120 to bring him into the vet." If you're not able to afford proper care for your pets, finding them new owners might be the most responsible thing to do, and it could help you improve your own situation as well by removing some financial pressure.

When I adopted my lovebird, I had no idea that he was going to have a health problem.

Also, Dwarf hamsters have a lot of problems, which I didn't know either. Toby and Basil are going to be three in August. Why give them up and keep the healthy hamsters? I love them.

I know you didn't expect the health problems. And I know it's been unfortunate, that you've had to deal with so many at once. But keeping a pet means being prepared to take care of them even when they're sick.

I didn't say to only give up the unhealthy hamsters... I actually think it might be best to give up all of your pets for a while, but I know that's extremely difficult. I don't know what would be easiest or best for you, but I do think it's best if at least some of your pets go to other homes for a while. You've been posting for a couple months now about how you struggle to provide for all of them. I know this is hard to hear, but it may be best to accept that you cannot afford pets right now, and to let them go, for both their sake and yours.

I can always ask my mom if she'll take someone, I doubt it though.

That makes sense.

Is your mom the only person you can ask? I think you're right that she won't take someone though. If she's not willing to help pay for the vet expenses, she's probably even less willing to adopt the pet from you. If you want to try to rehome, you could Google phrases like "tips for rehoming hamster" to find more advice, like this thread on hamster hideout.

You're in a tricky situation, since a lot of people won't want to adopt a pet that's old or sick. It might be difficult to rehome in that case. You could reach out to nearby animal shelters, or see if there's a small animal rescue in your area that would be willing to help with the vet fees.
