Wondering if the direct to collection option for food still has to abide by pet hunger?

Yes. Direct-to-collection will add 1 to the hunger like a normal food, and if your pet is at 10/10 then trying to buy something will fail and it'll say that your pet isn't hungry. I just tested this for you.
