Can you get Hydrus from zapping?

I want to turn one of my pets Hydrus but it can't be done through a potion or through the normal means so...does zapping work? 'cause then if I get one I can buy a potion to change it's species eventually. It's annoying me I can't get a Hydrus pet anymore. :c

No, you can't zap for hydrus. Everyone is waiting on Merana. "Soon."
- Ah alright. I wonder how much longer soon is. Most of the time "soon" means 4-5 months, so hopefully not that much longer.

Hopefully just a couple of months. Not too long ago they said that they only had a bit left to finish putting together, but didn't give an exact time frame. It should hopefully be soon though.
I'm kind of hoping that part of the delay is maybe getting revamps for quite a few of the Hydrus pets. I know a lot of them still have old and outdated pet art, so it would be nice to see some updated versions once Merana does come back.
@ Black You can only get Hydrus via the miracle potion currently (apologies!)

Miracle Potion does not give Hydrus. Loyalty Totem Potion is the only ANY color potion.
- Ah yeah, I'm not getting one of those for another year, I used mine for another pet spot and I think waiting will be better than using it for that rip

It won't be months before she's back (she is so close to being finished SO CLOSE)! As far as revamps, new/revamped hydrus pets are generally released in the summer months like glacier is for winter time. has a nice schedule for the different colors throughout the year to work with lore/holidays/etc. :) There are a few changes to the quest that people have wanted for ages (being able to quit being a big one). When we rerelease her, I'll be looking into the miracle potion working for hydrus (another highly requested thing).
