Does anyone here remember June bugs? I live in Canada, and back when I was around 5 or 6 I can remember that every summer we would have a type of beetle that would come into our house...no it's not roaches hahaha I remember seeing tiny beetles about the size of a jellybean that could fly slightly, but not very well.

My dad remembers seeing them as well, but they all seemed to disappear around 1997 or 1998 as I don't remember seeing them since...

This is really puzzling me aha

I get them every summer and a few here and there during spring. I was afraid it was some weird roaches/bed bugs ;___;

We have similar bugs here, we call them "may bugs" but their scientific name seems to be Melolontha? I only saw a dead one when I was a child (my grandpa found it) because they have gotten super rare. They are quite pretty and their antennas are cute but...no. I am embarrassed to say that but I would die if one would land on me and everyone in town would know because of me screaming like Tarzan before dropping down. 10,000 spiders are nicer than one bug. I remember june bugs. x_x They creep me out! All those little legs. My mother said when she was little, she would tie long pieces of hair to them like a leash and fly them around.

June bugs are kind of cute. They're like simple little scarabs. I don't like if they get in my hair though. It's Japanese Beetles I can't stand, ugh. Little bastards eat up my plants.

The last time I remember seeing them was summer 2014 here in TX. I'd just moved to a new neighborhood and they were EVERYWHERE and they somehow always got in the house, and would dive bomb your head all the damn time. I hated them.

Don't know if the neighborhood ramped up pest control after that (new subdivision) or if the weather caused them to not spawn.

June Bugs are satan's minions. We get a ton of them here in South Michigan. They sit on your screened doors and around your porch lights and dive bomb you. I hate them.

I always feel so bad for june beetles. 99% of the time they're stuck lying on their back and dying in your garage.

We get a variety of beetles in the summer here, some I think are june beetles, some are fig-eater beetles which are actually very pretty emerald green, mesquite beetles, a handful of other beetles, and the awful huge flying palo verde borer beetles which I fear will pick me up and fly away with me because they're terrifyingly huge and awful. They're like giant flying roaches.

Huh. I live in BC and I am trying to remember the last time I saw them and that was when I was a kid... about 95-96. (1990 baby). I moved and where I moved to didn't have the same tree access for a while and less outside play, but after that... no, haven't seen many, if any at all, since then. How incredibly strange.

I'm going to be looking for those suckers when spring comes.

Here in New Brunswick, we see them every year... but rarely ever alive. They're usually lying dead in the garage or floating in a water-filled bucket. One of our past dogs used to find them, snap them up, and munch 'em up like bacon.

For us, a bug we almost never get anymore but used to be around all throughout my childhood are cicadas. I distinctly remember always hearing them in summer on hot days, and for some reason my child mind decided that cicada cries were the sound that power lines made because I always heard them when I looked at power lines in the summer.

Come to Prince Edward Island and you'll see a ton of them. Every June they are plentiful and seeing as I have a phobia of the damn things, I tend to stay indoors as much as possible.

I live in the Philippines and we catch them during April and May when they get out hiding because it's almost rain season. Fried June bugs make for some nice popcorn substitute. :P

June Bugs are the bane of my friggin existence. I'm for some reason terrified of them. Big, loud things that run into things and get stick in your hair. If there is ever more than one june bug in my vicinity I'll book hellaf fast Regardless, I'm in America and have been seeing them for a while I think. Everytime I see my first june bug of the season I know my months of terror are upon me.

mmm, I'm in the Northeast, US. I can't remember if they were around last year. There was a huge gypsy moth outbreak last Spring/Summer that was HORRIFIC.

June bugs tend to land in our pool and I have to scoop them up with the skimmer and flick them off. They have sticky, picky legs and feet. We didn't have our pool set up last year so I didn't have that much contact with them.

Lady Asian Beetles are the bane of my existence. Every year they attack the squash in my garden. last year I didn't even do yellow squash, just zucchini so I didn't have to deal with those darn beetles too much.

We have June bugs where I live. They're pretty common in this area, actually. I'm in a more suburban neighborhood so they're not much of a problem here, but some of my friends live who live further out in the country are constantly complaining about them in the summer time lol some have apparently become experts at swatting them too.

This may sound weird but where I'm from, it was common to catch a June Bug and tie a string or thread around it. I used to tie it to a leg but some tied it around the head. (I know bugs can't feel pain but it just felt weird to me) Once they are on a string, you can let them fly around. Of course they would get tired so that's usually when we would release them by cutting the string close to where we tied.

I live in Ontario and I still see them, just not very often. Usually I find them in my parents' pool, the poor things. :( They're kind of cute. I'm fairly fond of beetles though.

I will love you forever if you trade me:

I have no recollection of june bugs, myself though. I prefer cicadas anyway lol.

I only seem to see June Bugs at the drag strip when I go with my parents, or at my grandparents house. They like to fly around the giant bright lights at night. Darn things sure are annoying though.

What we get here is an overabundance of lady bugs! They get into everything and appear everywhere! I mean, I don't really have a major issue with them, there's just so many lol

I do remember Cicadas though, darn things are reeaally noisy lol
