I recently adopted Antler, and will pair him up with Fruit as a couple of psychotic and delusional people. Antler is inspired by the appearance of wendigos from the TV show Hannibal, and he will be the cannibal murderer of the two. Fruit merely loves to plant Antler's victims' heads (usually bad people), and wishes these heads will grow into new and better human beings (aka fruits).

Since I'm sadly not a fan of Antlephore, would whatever Neelas or Noktoas have on their heads be considered as antlers (I know in the subetapedia, it says that neelas have horns). Would it be too weird if Antler is not a antlephore? Do you maybe have any other species suggestions for Antler besides antlephores, neelas, & noktoas?

[edit] As I'm working on their stories, and realizing that they are both completely insane and delusional characters, I actually don't want the pet to have antlers at all now. I'm hoping to give the effect of it's all in their heads. Thank you all for the input though. I'll definitely keep those in mind when I need an actual antler pet.

Personally I consider Noktoa having antlers and the Neela having horns. But no, not in my personal opinion. Actually, Antler would be creepier as a Nightmare Noktoa.

This little guy could work with an overlay, maybe?

I've always considered noktoas to have antlers so I definitely think that would work - personally I think anything with horns could work with a good story to match. Popoko's also have skull extensions if you think that might work for your character :P

I looked up the news comment, and it seems people to call the thing antlers on Noktoas. I actually thought about the NM ones, but sadly I already have one for another character, and the antlers aren't very apparent on them. I do really like noktoas for Antler, so I might need to wait for a bloodred one xD...

That's very true! I don't think we'll ever given enough info to decide for a subeta species xD. I guess since it's mostly the deer family that have antlers in real life, antlephore would be a default. Though I think an overlay might work in some cases. Thanks for the suggestion!

I almost forgot about the popokos. That's interesting! And you are right, with a good story tie-in, I think the pets with horns would work, or maybe even the ones without any antlers or horns. I'll have to think about it :).

i would say neelas have horns as they are partly based on an antelope/gazelle, which have horns, not antlers (horns are a permanent part of the skull and covered in keratin, while antlers are bony outgrowths that shed seasonally). on the other hand, the things on the noktoa's head should definitely be considered antlers - nothing else has that branching structure.

but really, it probably doesn't matter that much; i'd say just go with what you like best. maybe a bloodred or nightmare neela?

Just kidding, I think the Noktoa would definitely work! The horns of the Popoko more remind me of antelopes though...

HOWEVER I think in the end it matters most that you love the Pet representing your character so if you love Neelas then go for one - I mean you could always try to get an overlay for a Neela with antlers instead of the horns.

I gave the hydrus neela more of an antler-type look, something about being cursed by Merana :x
