hi there CW forums!
I'm trying to break into the CW releasers market but I'm finding it rather hard. I released a wig that I decided later wasn't good enough so I pulled it, same with a pair of shoes, after both failed to fill the first batch. I've made a wig I'm very happy with and opened it for slotting, but so far only one person has slotted on it. I could really use some advice on what might make my CWs more appealing- is it the colour, the style of drawing, the style of wig, something else?
here's my latest release, the thread (which I share with my friend) is here

please let me know if you have any feedback at all, I really want to get this batch filled since I'm very pleased with the wig, and I would appreciate anything anyone can offer in the way of advice to start getting this moving :)

Personally for me, the color is really out there and not something I'd use :X The second part that really stands out to me is that there is a big area under the bangs / forehead that makes it look like there is a chunk of hair missing. (I can offer a redline to show what I mean if you'd like!) Because of the color, I can't really tell what's going on with the shading or help there, but if you want detailed critique I'm available to offer that up on request!
Man the item image is REALLY cute and creative though. I love that little face on the bomb n_n
Thanks so much for getting back to me! I did wonder if it was the colour, I personally love space themed wearables (it's made to match the that my dear friend released but I guess the colour makes it hard to plan an outfit around. I did do two other colours here and here but I feel like they're all pretty bright- I love doing bold bright colours but maybe it sounds like I should start out with something in more of a natural hair tone? maybe a blonde or a black one?
A redline would be really helpful cause I'm not sure where you mean! detailed critique would honestly be useful, I've looked at this a lot and tweaked it endlessly and I've clearly looked at it so much I can't actually pick out faults with it anymore. will it take up a lot of your time though? I don't want to take advantage, since at the end of the day I do want to try and sell it to make some CSC so I don't want to like... profit off of you helping me 8V I do really want to get this saleable so I really appreciate the help! <3
thank you! btw nice un, is that a gw2 reference?

I personally find that it is easier to slot your first item on a color that there is a lot of onsite, to make it easier to match with that item. Only having one or two items to match that item might turn people away.
LINK So when sketching hair, it's a really good idea to pick out where your hairline is going to be. In this case, in the first image you can see there is a spot above the hairline that is missing hair. That part can easily be filled, which is what I've done in the second image. The third image shows a suggestion of where you might want to add darker shadows, because right now it's a bit hard to tell where your light source is coming from. Keep in mind to shade the item as a whole, and not just texture where the strands would go. The last image is me just showing how I'd take that previous shading sketch and incorporate it with the rest of the hair. C:
Other important things to note are to make sure your lines are thick enough that they still look black when resized, and to make sure you have lineart on the inside of your wig too, as doing a blackline around the edge and no lineart in the center could potentially get it denied for sticker effect!
I have a full tutorial on hair here, if you'd like to see more of how I work; LINK
[edit] Yes my username is a reference to Gw2 n_n And I'm offering my help free of charge, there is no reason to feel guilty about selling the item n_n I'm happy to help.
I'm going to have a long hard think about what colours I think I should release then, cause there's LOTS of black/brown/blonde wigs on sub and tbh I kinda wanted to make CWs that were sort of a bit more out there but I guess it's quite hard to break into the market that way.
OMG I can't believe I forgot about the hairline im so.... thank u so much I legit can't believe I didn't notice that. the shading advice is helpful as well, I'll take another look at that and the lineart and see if I can make it more obvious and clear... that's so so so helpful <3 thank you so much for your help, I might show you again when I've made a few tweaks, if that's okay!

Absolutely! Please show me! Oh goodness I love seeing artists as they progress n_n Most days I just sit around and ask for WIPs when my friends are working haha C: They're really fun to look at.
You definitely don't have to do something black / blonde / etc But consider looking up colors there are a lot of already in the wardrobe, specifically! If it were me trying to do something boldly colored, I'd look through what I have and maybe pick from something I use a lot, or really adore the color scheme for. Sometimes I even pick a color scheme from a set that there are lots of matching items to. So for example, the new Junko Entropy line that just came out, maybe I didn't want blonde hair to match that set? Because like you said, you want more bold colors, so I might consider color picking from a different item, such as: And then my wig would have purples and blues instead of blondes C:
For a pink, I personally might use an item like this for my palette; Not only is the color pretty to me, but I can see other items in the wardrobe easily matching n_n
I hope that helps! ❤️
this is really quick stuff tbh cause i suck at actually getting anything done. I LOVE the new junko like, and baby blue and purple is def something I'm going to look at doing these wigs in, probably as the next colour I release. I had a go at adding in the hairline and more defined shading but I can't seem to get it looking like yours, i think possibly cause on the intergalactic colour the highlights are a different colour to the rest of the wig, so the added shading isn't so obvious, but yeah as I said this is rough and I'll probably go over the bangs to try and polish them a little

The changes you've made are already starting to make this look loads better IMHO. C: The hairline fix really adds a lot of improvement n_n I can't wait to see what else you do!
so I tried to follow your suggestion of colouring from items I wanted to match and I came up with these (I've posted them with outfits to show what items they match) boink & blep - what do you think? I tried to chose colours I thought might match quite a few wearables so that they might be more appealing to people maybe??????????

Eh eh my hoodie is being used 8) I'll give my opinion: I wouldn't use this wig. The colour and hairstyle is not something for me. However, I think you're going in the right direction. Sadly, galactic items lost their touch ... The "novelty" has been lost. I'm afraid that if you really want it, you'll need to submit it yourself if you cannot fill slots for now :c
Good luck!
Looking at the newest and oldest side by side, none of the shading appears to have actually been changed, so I'm very confused on what to offer help on, since I've already offered help regarding the shading n_n'
hiii i think it looks brilliant (i love the blue-purp iridescent one) but i agree with after a closer look that it lacks overall shape shading! its not so obvious on the iri one, but the second one looks p sticker-ish q.q Mesmer is brill at shading, so maybe you can read the advice again! c:

ah, yes, I just adore the colours on that hoodie, it's a wonderful cw that I hope to someday own! I don't plan on doing all the colours galactic, but when I asked in my friend and I's thread which colour people would be most interested in that was the one that got the most responses, but I guess there is a bit of a saturation of spacey themed wearables at the minute.
yeah, I realised after looking at them again they don't look that different- I did add some shading to these on top of what I had but evidently it wasn't working out, I'm gonna take a look at it. I'm glad you like the colour though, Ursa, that's what I'm mainly concerned about just now, cause that seems to be one of the major stumbling blocks, as well as the shading. thanks so much for your input, I'll definitely try adding some more shading!
