I have baby lobsters in my tank. I was given the lobster named "Larry" who I renamed to Norman 2.0. I guess Larry is now Lara.
Anyway, I had no idea that I had babies. I probably killed a whole bunch when I cleaned my tank last month. I feel bad about it. I only see two active babies.
How many pets do you have ha ha? But congratulation on these lil snip snips. I'm terrified of lobsters but I still like them somehow ...
Awww widdle babies! Congrats! Hehe.
I was thinking about putting a crayfish/lobster in my 18 gallon but the top doesn't fit well so I'm afraid it might crawl out or something.
aaw lobsters are cute, but they seem kinda difficult to take care, no? how do you now if they are male or female? :?
Woah, surprise lobster babies is a crazy thing to happen :0 Congrats on the little snip snaps!
You don't know if they're male or female. The females carry her eggs in the tail and she usually protects them by keeping her tail curled. You can also pick them up and look under their tail, but I'm terrified of picking up a lobster. I have an Electric Blue Lobster (aka, Electric Blue Crayfish). They are generally not hard to keep. They like cooler temperatures between 68-72, which is regulated with a heater. You feed them pellets or frozen food (shrimp, blood worms...). They're also very territorial and like to hide. I find her and her two babies are most active at night.
I have four hamsters, a special needs lovebird and a lobster.
Wow that's awesome! I didn't really know people had lobsters as pets. What made you decide to get them?

I wish I'd known people could keep crawfish as pets! I was going to sell my old tank because I just kept getting sick bettas, and my experience with a snail did not end well (thanks to a hungry betta).
I wanted a low up-keep pet in my aquarium. I always thought they looked cool, so why not? If I had a larger tank, I could have two.
Betta's do not eat snails. Their mouth is only shaped for pellets or flakes on the surface of the water. They also cannot eat pellets or flakes at the bottom of the tank.
He was definitely the one responsible for the snail's demise. Maybe I should clarify that he didn't like ... swallow it whole or anything. First he ate off the poor thing's eyestalks over a period of a week or so, and later killed it. Ripped it out of the shell (I assume that part happened after he managed to kill it), there wasn't a whole lot left. Bettas are nippy fish and known to kill other fish (they're bred for it) and bite off tails, fins, etc. Not the friendliest critters. Snails are generally considered to be pretty unthreatening to them, but anything that sticks out (like eye stalks) can be fair game. Cranky booger actually kept going back to the corpse to eat pieces off. I should've known better -- he was a territorial fish and tended to be fairly aggressive. I just thought a snail would be safe!
Holy hell! That's the first time I've ever heard of a Betta killing a snail.
I had success keeping my Betta with other fish. Very odd.
The fish was a jerk, haha. I loved him anyway, but felt terrible for the snail. Perhaps I shouldn't have named the snail after a food item.
