Let's talk workshops! There was an announcement a few weeks back about Clubs not being around for this term and that we would try workshops instead. This thread will be here during the term as we will have a constant change of Captains and workshops. This post will contain the workshop schedule, captain, and subject. This will allow for members to know what is happening and what will come later. I added a few questions I thought would help and added the signup to be Smailed.
Signups will only be done through Smail. This will help keep all the information in one place.
THERE ARE NO HOUSE POINTS AWARDED FOR HOSTING/PARTICIPATING in WORKSHOPS.
What are workshops? Basically they are condensed and focused clubs.
How will they work? Workshops will be run by members. Each workshop will have a Captain who will choose the subject and style of RP. What this means is that you as a member can decide on the subject you want to RP around and the direction the workshop will go on. Keep in mind the workshop will be two weeks long. Being super specific might make the RP difficult in many ways.
Need to know?
- Workshops must be related to the Harry Potter world.
Subjects that can be used:
- School Subjects: Classes, electives, and extracurricular
- Quidditch: flying, practice, and strategy
- Diagon Alley/Hogsmeade: Shop owners and careers
- Ministry of Magic - Magical careers. Aurors, Healers, etc
- Specific to Hogwarts Roleplaying in the kitchens or interacting with the giant squid, etc.
- Field Trips
Subjects that cannot be used: -Dangerous and/or poisonous plants. -Dangerous and/or uncontrollable magical creatures.
Here are the available weeks for this term and how long they will run for. Keep in mind there will be 1 or 2 days overlap with workshops, but after that past workshops will be closed.
Available Weeks for this term: Wizarding calendar goes from Saturday to Friday. This allows for creating workshops and setting up during the weekend.
ALL WEEKS HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED.
If you are interested in being a workshop captain just send a Smail with this questions answered and any other ideas you might want to try out. Please remember we are still working on workshops and setting them up. Some things might need to be approved before being set up as a workshop.
Signup/Application:
- What will your Workshop be about? Add as many subjects/Ideas you are interested in.
- What weeks would be most convenient for you to host your workshop?
- What ideas do you have for your workshop? (Fun trivia, guest speaker, etc.)
- Comments, Questions, and Ideas.
-Guest Speakers may be Hogwarts professors. Just add which one you would want to drop in for your workshop (or any other character) you would want to have RP with you. can help you out.-

Like what? Even though the workshops are specific it doesn't mean a subject won't be covered. It might just come up in a different workshop. For now we will only have one workshop at a time but as we get a feel for it we will add and adjust.
Why are there no magical creatures? :o Where they go!?!?!
(If you mean the cannot part it is for dangerous ones like bringing a pregnant dragon or obscurus.)

I did make the correction on the post. Magical Creatures are the best. I would never take them away.
Oh yeah! I LOOOVED the movie. Sort of obsessed... don't be surprised if there are FB&WtFT all over from me.
As far as the RP we are starting with 2 weeks, but depending on participation and interest this will be modify. I will personally keep an eye on the RP to see if some workshops will need more time and adjust. We are just testing how this idea will work since the clubs were a tad too long and it was difficult for Captains and RPers.

I think I may feel more comfy with two week workshops, seems like a cool idea! Too bad no dragons ...I'm still keeping mine. lol

Just a quick question: What do you mean by super specific RP? As in reduced interaction between characters because the topic will mostly be geared towards the subject? :0 Just to be sure I understood it.
It means it will be a centralized topic instead of a broad and changing one like clubs used to be. For example instead of having flying club we can have Quaffle training workshop, flying strategy workshops, beater practice, keeper and hoop workout. One workshop will have one topic and develop from there instead of jumping from one subject to another and having people be confused as to where the RP has moved to.
We have had issues in the past where an RP board will move quickly for a day and members come back feeling lost because 5 pages have moved along. We are trying to minimize that without restricting the RP itself.
Learning spells to clean up blood and destroy evidence is a life skill :k
Is there an official deadline to submit an idea, or until all slots are taken?

I would prefer if the ideas are in by 1/14 to have a more consistent calendar but I will take submissions till 1/27.
Is there a limit to how many workshops we can apply for?
