....
so sorry to hear about this :(
Think positively. That's all you can do at the moment. Love him as much as you can.
I've never had a bird, but I have my dog, and I don't know how I could handle something like this.
You got this. Don't think the worse until you know for sure.
You're right. I'm sure he'll be on medication if it's a thyroid problem, but how much a month will this med cost me /if/ that's what he has? My mom was freaking rubbing it in open wounds last week that "People on welfare can't afford pets".
there are ways to get it cheaper than at the vet. Places like Walmart, Target, and Costco all carry pet meds at discounted prices. My mom just got some eyedrops from Costco for our dog significantly cheaper than at the vet.
And sometimes, you do special things for your pets. Maybe you work a couple extra hours a week or budget to afford it.
He's fine <3 The vet thinks he has the herpes virus because all lovebirds carry it and when it gets activated in their system, they become itchy. Some birds go as far as ripping holes in their skin and damaging their wings to the point where they can't fly anymore. Buddy has done none of that. He needs to stay on his meds for another month. He's still plucking, so he might have to wear the cone of shame on his next visit.
