I have had Drifblim for 2.5 years now... and I STILL can't figure out what to do with him, exactly. I've redone his profile a couple times, but it just never clicked, so I cleared it all out to start over. This is what his profile background used to look like but I don't like it.

My inclination is to base him on my Drifblim OC Poof. I have an epic backstory for Poof in my head... but I don't know what to do for his story here on Subeta, or what his profile should look like, or what to do with his TC or UGH ANYTHING. I think the Sweetheart Ghostly species is appropriate for him, but I'm considering doing an overlay to recolor it into more Blim-esque colors, but I'm not sure...?

Any suggestions on what to do with this baby are appreciated ;X;

First, I love Drifloon and Drifblim ! Unfortunately I've only actually finished one Pokemon game (shame!) and watched only like one and a half of the films so I'm not familiar with whether your OCs background is Pokemon-canon or how to translate that to Subeta.

So, I feel like you have a couple of options here 1: Straight up your OC, no mention of Subeta 2: Translate his story to Subeta. Find a similar-ish event to the Dream Wars, that would motivate a Subeta character rather than a Pokemon one. Unfortunately the Subetapedia doesn't really have a history/backstory section -- you can glean some, especially stuff about wars in several of the articles, but none is too in-depth. I'm sure that's on purpose. Some site-wide plots have been summarized at http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Plots and those might serve as inspiration as well 3: Drifloon/Drifblim homage pet without aspects of your OC (it kind of looks like the current TC items reflect a mix of this and your OC?) and without personality/background/etc 4: Drifloon/Drifblim fanboy, with personality/background regarding their love of those Pokemon (or, uh, 'Betamon' if you wanna go the Subeta-themed route).

I like the idea of his treasure chest containing only the balloons (I mean in addition to non-balloon stuff) that could be alive, so to speak, to represent the balloon community. So, kind of like your animal,pet, and minion balloon category of your gallery, but just the ones with faces. If you do go with your OC in some form then there are a lot of good ideas to harvest from that Charahub profile regarding what to put in the TC (donuts, balloons, ribbons, etc etc). I also strongly suggest items that refer to events in their life, whether you make a Subeta-based background or keep the Pokemon-based one.

As for what to do with the actual profile and overlay: well, I think no matter what you do, getting an overlay that matches the colors of Drifblim or your OC's richer take on those colors would make you happier than the sweetheart colors, right?

I usually start with the color scheme of my pet or their overlay and plan the layout around that. I'm imagining a background that is evocative of hot air balloon designs or maybe even have hot air balloons as the background with the content kind of displayed on them? I don't know, web design is something I feel very behind on.

And Poof isn't really all that Pokemon canon (although there are so many different canons in Pokemon I guess it doesn't really matter XD), so I'm pretty flexible. I'm probably going to end up using your first suggestion of not working him into Subeta. Originally I had him visiting Subeta from his own world, but that was too complicated :P Right now I'm leaning towards instead of writing a plot-motivated story, I'm just going to write out his history/biography. And I've worked on his profile image some today, and I agree - I'm gonna be happier giving him an overlay that fits his colors better :3

Most of all, I LOVE your idea about putting "living" balloons in his TC!! That's such a cute idea, but it hadn't ever occurred to me besides giving him the Balloony minion. Right now his TC is mostly general Drif-related stuff, but I was struggling with it because I wasn't sure whether to collect ALL the Betamon stuff (ouch there goes my vault), or just the things that weren't species-specific or what. Instead, I'm gonna follow your advice to do things related to his story/personality... like a donut collection, lol.
