I don't remember if that option (Suggestions on the dropdown list for Interact) was there before or not, and can't find anything about it. Is it new or am I blind? o.o if I was blind, what does it do? I can't find any information in it.

it's not new. IMO it is reasonable that once upon a time you weren't blind to it, but realized it wasn't worth the brainspace and stopped seeing it.

What it does is myspacey/facebookish/google+ thing where it guesses who you might like to be friends with based upon who you are already friends with, and what Groups you may wish to belong to based on what groups your friends are in.

Me, I figure you are smart enough to figure out if the things your friends are interested in are also interesting to you. It's helpful in the instance where they all like something and have talked out how much they like it already so never really mention it since they think you know, so and forget to tell you about it.

so I wouldn't have had any idea what it was actually waiting for. xP I didn't know they had anything like this in my multiple years of playing, so I had initially thought it was some sort of feature-suggesting alternative to the Forum. ._.; I feel silly now.
