We find our internet service provider to be very crappy in the past, present and probably the future (will we ever switch? Not sure, they seem to have a monopoly on this area..) But recently it's just beyond frustrating.
They never come out and do maintenance on their equipment, first of all. In the past we've gone on and had problems for years because no one could be arsed to come and check it, finally came out to discover that some piece of equipment had been installed upside down and was getting wet every time it rained. That's just one example of many...
Lately they applied an update to our cable or something? The menus on the TV look completely different and since they've done that, the TV has been messing up and pixelating like crazy. For 3 days it was like that (with complaints phoned to them) but finally it appeared to be fixed.... Then our internet goes out on Thursday.
And it's like, really really out. Their fix methods did nothing to bring it back and they say it will be 2 days before someone comes out to fix it. So naturally my dad rages at their poor service which leads to them sending out someone the next day (which was yesterday). He somehow brings it back and says that our connection is intermittent so we keep having episodes of internet slowing down to a stop and not coming back for hours. He also said that he reported it to someone higher up than him and they'll have to fix it tomorrow (which is today).
I get up today to find out that the TV was having problems again, leading to my dad calling them again, only to find out that our appointment about the internet had been cancelled because they decided "it wasn't their problem." REALLY??? Not only that but I love how they just silently cancelled it without telling us, and that we only found out by calling about a different issue we were having.
You could probably guess that my dad raged at them about it again. Now they're supposedly sending someone ELSE out on Monday or so? I don't know why it continues to surprise me when they've been like this for years but I'm still somehow baffled. Our internet was perfectly fine for ages until out of the blue it just stops working. We didn't mess with anything or do anything to cause it to stop working. Only thing we can think of is rain, freezing winter weather etc, is messing with their non-maintained equipment outside and once again they don't want to have to deal with it.
Oh and I almost forgot to say that I've been anticipating a name clearing on subeta for weeks, and all these issues coincide with when that's supposed to happen and I just freaking hope I have internet at the time. I'm doubly pissed. On Thursday night/Friday morning 12AM midnight, I had to use my phone data in order to post the bathhouse pools ping, collect melody etc... I might have to resort to that again.
and not only that but my dad works from home and requires internet to do his work. So beyond the petty subeta stuff, this could actually affect us negatively if they don't fix it soon.
look at my issues ;_;
Jeeze that sucks! I remember you complaining about them to me in the past, but this is seriously beyond reason. Whether they felt it was their problem or not, it's their job and responsibility to check on their stuff periodically. It's pretty ridiculous they can't take and look into things for you guys.
Reminds me of when we had issues with our internet and we were told we needed a new router and a whole bunch of other things. Turns out it was on their end so we're glad we didn't have to spend money on that. We do still have internet issues left and right though, which I've told you about. I dunno it just seems like ISPs don't... care?

I feel your pain. My ISP is also my friends ISP. This is the most recent "god they suck" story. XD His service went out on a Sat. He was told "the area had an outage" when he called ....Then he still had no service and called on monday via his cell, (they have the full internet, cable and home phone package). He was was told the technician was "given the wrong account information" and had DELIBERATELY turned their service off, thinking it was another account. They were supposed to be out Wednesday to fix this. The technician they sent tried to call the number and got no answer, so canceled the service call...that particular moron was calling the HOME PHONE. You know, the one they had to turn service on again for because they'd bloody turned it off. When he didn't hear from them and called them from his cell only to be told that...well needless to say they finally managed to get someone out the next day to turn it on. But that is pretty typical of the idiots. ...It's evidently a thing for companies, they just molder and turn into this slimy lump that oozes through your life and makes you want to kill it with fire. -.- ..except then no internets, so..catch 22. XD
Do you have a rare item that just won't sell? Are you going through the high levels of Item Hunt? Or maybe you just HATE that blue bunny? Then you should join IHH helpers and IHH bargain in the forum groups!
Mediacom is a nightmare. We've had them before, several times unfortunately, including now. Internet/cable is free through our lease, and it's Mediacom. It crashes frequently. Not as bad at the first time. The first time we had it, the cable flickered every 2-3 minutes and the internet crashed every 5-10 minutes. But that was before streaming was a thing, so it was .... usable...ish.
Oh jeesh. That sounds awful. Ours has been really bad lately. Every few days it just goes down constantly every 3 minutes for 5 minutes at a time. But its not just our net, its our TV and phone. So everyone in the house is about ready to march on them and beat them up.

hope everything goes well :(
I just wanna be pretty...
We finally got some good help today. It was an older man and everything he did today made it look like the previous (young) dude did jack shit... Today the technician (or whatever its called) replaced the equipment outside and the main cable that runs directly from the computer all the way out to the pole. He kept working until it was fixed and it all took 2 hours. The last guy literally wandered around outside for like 10 minutes before saying he didn't know what the problem was and he left. So I'm thankful for the guy who came out today, he was sensible, friendly and hardworking.
I couldn't help but laugh at the stupidity of the ISP in that story xD
Ouch. Well at least it's free, and can be somewhat used still.
Understandable! In the past my internet had been the same way, but I think it was a problem with our very old router rather than the ISP. (We then got a new router)
Thanks! Everything seems fixed up now thanks to the worker I mentioned in the first paragraph of this post :D
It's always nice to know there's someone out there that still cares, glad the right person finally showed up and fixed the issues for you!
