It's been several years since I was active here. I had a battle pet and some really great weapons but all that is long gone and a lot has changed. I've been training some of my pets since I got back and some are tier 2 but I have yet to get back into battling. While I can find info on sets, I'm just not sure if it's better to start at tier 1 and work up or start higher if possible?

I have pets that range from T1 - T12. My armory was mostly put together though before the tier system was introduced so a lot of my equipment is now what is considered T8+. That being said, I personally don't start battling with my pets until they are at least T6 as I don't have many weapons below that tier. Decent weapons to use for a while I would say are in the T7 - T9 range where as weapons you are going to want to work towards are T10+. If you want to start beating opponents and doing battle quests, I would buy weapons at your highest pet's tier. Low tier weapons are very cheap to acquire. Definitely keep training your pets every day. Depending on your funds, you can start to make large investments at T4/T5, but you can get by without buying the best of the best at lower tiers since you will outgrow those weapons quickly.

I was battling some with my T3s until just this past year. Now that I have several pets are T4+, I've stopped battling with T3 because there is no 100% freezer until T4 and freezing first round then hitting as hard as I can with bombs/attackers is one of my favorite strategies. LOL If you are already a T2 then it shouldn't take you long to get to T3 range. I can offer some weapon suggestions for T3, some of which can carry over into T4 if necessary.

Click Here is once-per-battle (OPB) but gives a blessing that provides a 20 point heal for a number of rounds. and are also OPB. They each give blessings that provide a 10 point heal. is an OPB freezer with as good a freeze rate as any at T3. (I use the Gorgun as my 100% freezer at T4, but there are other options.) is infinite use and heals 20 to 25 points. (At T4, you should replace the Mace with the Malevolent Grimfruit, which heals 40 points. The Grimfruit takes the healer slot, as does the Mace, so you can't use them together.) is infinite use and heals 15 points. (It is pretty comparable to the Replica Minotaur Knocker at this tier but the Knocker is an good investment. It scales from T1 all the way to T11, but is most useful in the T4 to T6 range.) One expensive I really suggest you get: is a 100% healer at all tiers so it will be useful forever. (Some cheaper alternatives at T3 are the Sparkling Quill, which heals 100 points OPB, and the Ruffie Healing Bones, which also heal 100 points OPB. Neither the quills nor the Healing Bones take the Healer slot so you can use them all together and in conjunction with a dual healer/attacker like the Mace.)

There are benefits to battling as soon as possible though. Some of the Easy and Medium opponents give out eggs which are boosters. They can be used on pets that are T1 all the way through T3. (Not T4+.) They are tied to your account and can only be used, eaten, or deleted; however, they do help with increasing stats in the low tiers.

To add to Aeon's helpful weapon suggestion the Stinging Gauntlet has a chance to freeze too. My T4 babies are pretty happy with that ^^

I remembered there being a reason I sometimes liked to use it at T4, despite having the Minotaur Knocker. After not battling at T3 in so long, I had forgotten. Thank you for mentioning that! -makes a note-

I'd recommend doing battle quests. You might not complete many with a T2, but all you can complete give exp which you can then use to buy stats. While training is by far the fastest way to raise stats at the lower tiers, BQs = free stat points every day ^^

I've sent a few things (mainly tier 1) to my armory and I don't know how to access them to remove them. I figure they are mostly junk and best removed but I don't know how.

If you go to the Battle Coliseum (in Games), your armory is the first link at the top. Here's the direct link: (Click here.) You'll have to create a set before you can access your weapons. Once you have created a set, click the "Edit Set" button. Once there you are on the Edit Set page, you will see all the weapons you have added to your armory. Clicking on the little check mark box below a weapon and then clicking the "Edit Set" button at the very bottom of that page will add that weapon to the set. Clicking the red Remove button below each weapon should completely remove that particular weapon from your armory and move it back to your inventory. As far as I know, there is no way to remove multiple weapons at once so you just have to repeat the process for each one.

Hope it's okay to update here.

I managed to get my proposed battle pet Katatherick bumped into tier 3 and I'm still training him. I have a few of the recommended weapons for that tier but not a full set. I'm saving up for one more pet slot and don't feel I can afford one of the bombs recommended.

It lists Ruffie Healy Bones as a healing item but does your pet have to be a ruffie to use them?

This is the set I used to beat everyone except mephysto 10 times

and sometimes I swapped something out for an earth bomb or jingle bell bomb. Another important thing to note is that my pets are mid T3 and I used which is very overpowered for a T3

You can use the Ruffie Healy Bones with any species of pet. None of the weapons with a species in the name are restricted to that particular species.

Oh okay, thanks for the clarification on that. I used to play Neopets years ago and there, a species in the name meant only that species could use it generally.

I noticed some of the weapons that Wesker said they use/d say they are tier 1 but they were talking about using it on a Tier 3. I thought they didn't work for pets above or bellow the weapons allotted Tier?

Thanks

Any weapon that is equal to or below your present Tier can be used. Only weapons that are above your present Tier can not be used(until after you reach the necessary Tier).

Confirming what OaZuoM said, your pet can use any weapon at or below its current tier. It cannot use a weapon above its current tier. Adding to that, the weapons that are Tier 1 that I listed also are scaling weapons. As your pet goes up in tiers, the stats on the weapon will change until they reach the max scaling tier. For the rainbow vortex and Phoenix quill, the max stats are reached at tier 5 where the knocker caps at tier 12.

Thank you. Any suggestions for tactics/strategy with any of the opponents? I don't mind the odd loss here or there but it bugs me no end when I lose more than I win. So I keep hesitating on jumping into the battle quests because I'm not really upto speed on how it will work and what to expect.

Battle quests don't count towards your win/loss record so its generally pretty safe to jump right in.

You can probably beat the first 5 -10 levels pretty easy.

some of the level 6+ opponents might give you some difficulty.

You can almost certainly do levels up to 9, though a couple of the level 10 bosses might give you a run for your money. I do them with fels using cheap weapons for the most part. I do have the Replica Minotaur Knocker and a couple scrolls which are kind of pricey though ( and )

Losing/winning during battle quests doesn't count towards your pet's battle statistics, so you can lose without consequence, other than having to pay to heal your pet each time you lose. You can even skip a quest if you don't like/can't beat the opponent or wait until the quests reset. There is going to come a time in battling where you may lose 20 times in a row just to get one win in an attempt at getting experience and rare loot drops. The only way to get a real feel for battling is to start battling. Tips and suggestions are a good place to start, but once you battling with your pet, you will get a feel for what works and doesn't work against different opponents. For example, I have a good idea when I fight an opponent if my pet could beat them with the right weapon set, if they could beat them getting lucky with the right strategy, or if they are just too hard and I need more stats.
