I don't know if this is where this should go... but I could use some positive vibes right now.

My cat (of almost 7 years, who has had some health issues lately) ran out of strength rather suddenly this morning, and passed away before I could even bring her to the vet.

I watched as she breathed her last, and took her to officially say my goodbyes.

sigh. My sweet tabby is out of pain and sickness now, and I'm grateful that it seemed to be over quickly for her, that I GOT to say goodbye, and for the time I had with her.

Now to deal with this hole in my heart. :(

Aww. I'm so sorry.

I know exactly how you feel. In the past year and a half we've had one cat pass away, had to put one down, and put down a dog as well. (They were 14, 23, and 15.) The one that passed away got sick so fast there was nothing we could do. He cried out in the middle of the night, and we ran to him, and he went right there in my arms. It was the hardest thing to see and I'm pretty sure I've never cried so hard in my life. Especially because he was my cat, you know? He slept with me every single night, and then he was just not there. I couldn't even sleep in my bed for two nights without him.

Once he passed, our older cats health started going, so we opted to put him down. It wasn't any easier, tbh. My husband and I agreed that we'd have no more cats for a while, but about 8 months later, we came across a cat that was being adopted out, so we got him. (Also turns out it was about 2 weeks before we had to put our dog down. Old age is a bitch.)

He'll never replace our other cats, but man, was he the right cat for us. We see our others in his mannerisms so much, that sometimes it makes me cry. It's like he was meant for us, to remember the cats we lost, but also with his own personality.

In time it will hurt a little less, and one day you'll find another kitty that will love you just as much. I can't say it'll take away all the pain, because I'm not sure that's possible. But you'll love it just as hard, and you'll make new memories.

Oh my god. This post made me tear up. I'm so sorry.

I've watched some of my hamsters die too and they passed peacefully on my chest while I give them my last pieces of love. They may be gone, but they're never forgotten! <3

Oh no. I'm crying now.

I'm crying :'(

I am sorry for you loss. At least you can take comfort in the fact that she is no longer suffering and she got to go on her terms at home where she belonged. :)

Oh I am so sorry to hear of those struggles... having that many fur-babies leave you so suddenly and with so short a time is just awful. One is awful enough. That's pretty much how this went down, too... she cried out for me, and from the time I went to her to the time she left us was less than half an hour. She went away in my arms, which was so much harder than I could have ever thought possible. She looked and felt so small.

And I believe you wholeheartedly... this kitty found US nearly 7 years ago... showed up on our porch in the middle of winter, having been spotted by neighbors for about a month in the cold and snow but not caught. No one reported her lost, so we kept her, and she's been ours since. Thing is, she showed up just 9months after we lost my childhood cat who was nearly 18 when he had to be put down due to a stroke. This furry child was already a miracle, a healing gift, and while we're not looking for any more animals right NOW, I know in my heart that if the time comes to be right, we'll have another someday, and love her/him as much as can. Thank you for your reply, and for sharing your story.

Thank you for your post <3 All we can do is give them our love, right? Give them the best life we can, and show all the love we've got. hugs

Today has mostly been reminiscing... pulling up photos, telling the silly stories, the little memories. It helps so much, you're so right. Thank you for your thoughts and your reply. <3

You are so right about that! She was always a bit more feral than other pets the family has had... she did things HER way, and this was no different. It was on her own terms, and I can at least know we did all we could, we loved her, spoiled her, and cared for her, and now she has no more struggles. Thank you so much for your reply.

I'm so sorry for your loss -- I know how devastating losing your furbaby can be. It's special, however, you were able to be with her ❤

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

Pets really have a way of getting into our hearts and taking up root there, and losing one is so unbearably hard, even if they haven't been around for that long.

I'm so glad your baby is out of pain, but I know it will take a while before you are. Make sure to take the time to grieve her. It's so important.

If you'd like to talk, vent, express more feelings, please feel free to ping or message me. <3

I'm so sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences. I know exactly how you're feeling right now. Just yesterday my family lost our oldest dog, she also left as my mom and I were holding her in our embrace. She was over 19 years old but up until the last couple of months had always been incredibly healthy and active for her age. She loved absolutely everyone. We were blessed to have her and that she lived such a full, long life is nothing short of amazing. But the fact is no matter how much time we have with them it's never enough. Time numbs the pain but I can't say it ever fully goes away (I still cry for my childhood dogs). Take time to grieve, look at photographs and share happy memories (when you feel ready), that always helps me. They're always with us. ❤️

I'm so sorry about your kitty! I lost my little dog yesterday and know just how you feel.I can't seem to stop crying. I've been looking at pictures and trying to think of all the happy times we had together. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it just makes me miss her more. I guess it will just take time for both of us to get used to not having them with us. They will always be in our hearts.

- Thank you. And yeah, as hard as it was, I'm glad I was there for her.

- Thank you for your reply, and your thoughts, and the offer.

- Thank you ♥

- Oh no :'( I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, too. It's so true, no matter how many years, it still hurts so badly. When you welcome an animal into your home, they become a part of your family in such a special way. I hope you and your family can have peace in the leaving, and that you can help each other's hearts to heal, as well. ♥

- Oy, such a bad day for furbabies :'( I'm saddened to hear of your loss, as well. The crying just keeps going for me... and I keep thinking I see her out of the corner of my eye, or wondering where she got to if enough time passes and I forget for a moment. It's so hard. It will be hard for a while. But I know it will eventually ease, for both of us, and that those good times and that gratefulness we have for having had that time with our little loved ones will remain even after that. Thank you.
