So, I started a new job this week and have been surprised to find that the people in my office are all really familiar with MBTI. No one in my previous workplace had ever heard of it.
I was wondering whether many of you guys have taken the MBTI test? Do you rate it very highly?
I'm INFP. (Strong I and F, moderate N and P.) I try and take personality tests with a pinch of salt but confess to finding them interesting.
I've taken the test, but I believe I've read something about the test being passed out for a more effective and accurate one (though I can't engender what that is T~T) I want to say that the last time I took it, I was an INTJ.
Edit: I just took the test again, I'm actually an INFP, a Mediator. It fits lol. I dare say though, I wouldn't be very valuable in big companies. I'm a dreamer lead by their morals. People like me get squished pretty quick.
Ooh, that's interesting. Do let me know if the name of it springs to mind. My boyfriend and brother are both INTJ. It's an interesting type!
I've just seen your edit and I have to say that I feel the same way. I'm good at interacting with people on a social level and am not "shy" but I tend to go instantly quiet in a group any larger than 3 and never speak up, even if I have a question/disagree. I need to work on that.
I took it years ago and, although I don't remember what it said about me, I thought it was reasonably accurate. I've never worked for an employer who used it though. They must really be interested in not only your skills and experience, but also if you are a good fit.
EDIT: I just reread your post, and I see now that your employer didn't use it. But I still stick with the good fit if your new coworkers are interested in the same things you are interested in! G'luck in your new position :D
Yeah, I guess they must be!
If you were interested in finding out but can't be bothered to take the test again, I've suggested before that people Google "Myers Briggs N vs S" for example and go through the different letters. You may know pretty accurately just from looking at the descriptions of each letter and be able to work out what you are.
Edit: And thank you for the good luck! It's very different from what I've done previously so I'm already seeing elements of things I love and other things which worry me slightly.
I'm an ESFP (The Performer). I love personality tests, but this is one that I can really relate to. It's never been used in a workplace setting, but it's fun to see who shares or compliments your personality alignment I think.
So I just took an internet test (I don't know how accurate they are) but I got LOGISTICIAN (ISTJ-A). I think that is similar to what I got before.
I've taken the test a few times and I seem to keep flipping between INFP and INTP for some reason, depending on the frame of mind I'm in >.>'
Like you, I take them with a grain of salt, but I also do find them interesting, especially when they're pretty accurate.

I've taken it! When I came to university they gave the incoming freshman a code for a free myer briggs test that's usually like 50-60 dollars. I got INTJ and have gotten it on every test I've taken haha. I think it's really accurate :)
My boyfriend is ENFP which is also a really accurate description for him. It's interesting because INTJ and ENFP are supposed to be the ideal couple lol! And we're pretty good together ^^

I've taken some internet ones before and still got INFP so I figure that they can't be too bad!
Aww, that must be frustrating! I guess it's just a case of reading up and seeing which sounds more "you" all over.
I agree that it does seem to be scarily accurate. Both my boyfriend and my ex were INTJ so I hold that type in very high regard, haha. That's sweet about how you and your boyfriend compliment each other, too. :)
Oh yes... very familiar with it. Took it quite a few times in college. I'd like to see what I am now.
Your personality type is: Adventurer (ISFP-t)
Yup... that's me in a nut shell!
The test is really fun to take, but definitely have a health does of salt with it when you take it. There are some people who treat it as some holy explanation of their personalities when its more akin to a slightly-more-accurate zodiac. It actually takes your personality to determine traits you are more likely to exemplify, but you're not stuck with one your whole life (as some people, I've found, seem to adhere to - they took it once and insist they're the same four letters every time it comes up after that).
Most recently I got the Mediator (INFP), using the test at https://www.16personalities.com/personality-types and I'd say that's pretty accurate to who I am and how I'm feeling lately.
Yes! I love all of what you said! I know two people who have taken the test so seriously that I think they're trying to mimic their descriptions. What's worse too is that they take a little too much pleasure in being a "rare" type, which annoys me beyond belief.
I am also INFP. On the test I took, my introvert score was 91% I think! Can't remember my scores for F and P, but I have a feeling my intuitive and sensing scores were pretty close, so I'm not far from ISFP.
It's a pretty interesting test, and seems to be surprisingly accurate considering there are only 16 outcomes. There are personality tests out there that simply seem to have no logic to them, but the Myers-Briggs system is very thorough and I find I can really relate to a lot of things that are often said about INFP types!
Cleared by staff - maximum height is 325px.
I got ISFJ, but I'm marginal/no difference between Feeling and Thinking. I got 3% difference on the one I took.
I'm an ISFJ- Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging. I don't remember what's stronger, weaker, etc. But it's known as The Defender/ The Nurturer, which summarizes my personality in one word
omg I knew people like that in college. Like of all the things you can be petty over, THIS is what you're gonna linger on? come oooonnn
Intp but definitely agree with those who say it should be taken with a grain of salt since people change over time. I used to be a pretty friendly and outgoing kid before being bullied pretty badly after a move for example.
I have taken it a few times and I always get INTP. It seems to be pretty accurate.
I'm an ISFP. The test is really inaccurate, though. It is inaccurate because it's based on a dichotomy rather than the 8 cognitive functions (which are all used, you just prefer 4 in a specific order above the other 4). I feel that I should also say that it's not really about personality so much as how you think and process information.
In the past using the quiz, I have mistyped as INTP, INFP, INTJ, INFJ, and ISTP. I actually mistyped as an INFJ even with the functions (which is not uncommon for an ISFP) due to past misunderstanding of the theory.
