I've tried all three at one time or another and Hulu has always seemed like the least impressive of the lot. After Netflix, Amazon seemed to have the best format and content. Hulu's basic subscription has a lot of in-steaming ads and you have to pay more if you want ad-free. It also doesn't have a good watchlist format anymore, making it difficult to keep track of the things you want to watch. (This is actually the primary reason I probably will never use their service again. The other two are much more intuitive in my opinion.) They all have their own "exclusive" content but I had pretty good luck find the shows and movies I wanted to watch elsewhere... They also each have their own exclusive set of shows and movies which get made available first through their service. The latter is why I signed up for Hulu in the first place. I can't remember the show anymore (final season was two or three years ago) but I remember consistently being able to watch episodes a few months before they were available elsewhere.

All that said, both Hulu and Amazon have a free trial for new members, so you can check them out for yourself. Just be sure to check the length of the trial period and to cancel a few days before it's over (to give it time to process) if you don't want to be charged.

Amazon is awful. At least when I tried it. Could only play one episode at a time, clunky hard to use interface, just generally disliked. I used it for one day and couldn't take it. I do not understand why Doctor Who is soley on Amazon now. Great way to not have people watch your stuff, BBC.

Hulu is alright. I have it and Netflix. I prefer Netflix's interface, but I ran out of stuff to watch. So my husband got Hulu with the ad free package. Definitely worth the few extra bucks for ad free. Doesn't have as much content as Netflix, but like I said, I ran out of stuff to watch. Has a lot more current stuff, and has current episodes as they air. I prefer streaming stuff legally, but if something isn't offered legally to stream through my ps3 or ps4, I'm going to watch it through pirate means at my computer.

Hulu's original programming is not worth it. I've watched a couple of the shows. They take an actor, say the dude from Burn Notice or Aaron Paul, and essentially have that actor play that same character under a different name/life while using what I can only describe as "the USA B-team writers". I did like Difficult People, that was more ... Showtime B-team writers. I watched the psychic/gypsy one with dude from Burn Notice. It was just okay. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad. Just okay. Hulu is no Netflix.

I still think Netflix is the best so far. I tried Amazon for a bit but other than their original projects they are not any better in my opinion. Hulu is cool for daily network shows (though they don't have a lot of CBS shows) I really like some of their original shows like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and the Mindy Project. And recently they've had a few movies I was surprised to see.

Netflix has stepped up a lot in my opinion with many original series.
