The other day I clicked on the Mysterious Melody icon by mistake when trying to get to Melody's Cottage. I was automatically signed up even though I didn't want to be. Could there be some way of actually choosing to go ahead once we're there like a button saying Sign Me Up?

In case anyone is wondering, I did send my partner some items. It was a relief when they only sent one item back, though.

Please! I did the same thing myself the other day. I went ahead and did my best on it, but all I'd wanted was to get a box of ornaments <:v

I've done this at least once per season for many years. I'd love to see a confirmation. It may even lessen some of the frustration about people joining MM, then not participating, because I'm willing to bet that at least a small number of them meant to go to the cottage and misclicked.

Agreed, this needs either a confirmation or a button on the page which you specifically click to join up.

I also remember joining up by accident one year and it was very stressful. I had been considering signing up but wanted more information before I decided. Instead I was thrust into it. I did my best, but was not at all prepared.

The turnover for mysterious melody is so quick, I wonder if this is something that would really be necessary.

What do you mean by turnover being so quick?

The whole point of this topic is that people who have gone there by mistake don't want to play the Mysterious Melody game. I ended up there because the page jumped when I was trying to get to the cottage for a box of ornaments. I really don't want that happening again.

We aren't forced to leave gifts under people's trees or gift anyone through the Gift Center - if Major Drills asks us to use the Gift Center we can refuse that quest if we don't want to do it.

Agreeing with here. Its an honest mistake to enter and not mean to for a day, and it doesn't effect you overall or punish you if you don't send anything back or participate. And even so, you could just send a junk item and then you participated, in case you are worried about it being an issue.

Is this even a popular enough problem to have it be coded?

I've accidentally joined MM before because I legit got confused which icon was which. This is a great idea.

It may only be for a day but I'd rather participate because I want to rather than because I feel obligated to make up for a mistaken click.

For what it's worth, I'd rather not encourage people to just send one junk item or ignore it if they accidentally join MM. A huge portion of the complaints every year are partners who don't participate or who junk send, and if a confirmation button can cut down on that, I'm all for it.

I agree. It wouldn't have been such a pain if there had been a message saying "Got here by mistake. Please ignore."

it says "sign up" if you haven't, and shows your inventory items to select if you're already signed up.

Maybe it was some kind of bug because I'm not the only person in this topic who had this happen to them. I just clicked on the Mysterious Melody link from the news page in error and found myself signed up with no choice in the matter.

This thread might as well be locked seeing as there's supposed to be a button there. (I haven't checked to see just in case my account is jinxed. :) )

The one in the sidebar? I just checked and didn't get signed up. If you can, try the link right before midnight and if it does sign you up automatically, make a bug report thread :)

I've got the Melody's Cottage widget now so won't be risking the link on the news page. I don't fancy staying up until 4.00am to see if there's some kind of bug for my account - you can lock this now or, maybe, leave it up for a while in case it happens to somebody else.
