ASMR: autonomous sensory meridian response
So, the question is this; Do you listen to it? Do you not? Do you think it's kind of weird? Why so?
If you do listen to videos, do you experience the ASMR effect, or do you just listen to it casually/for relaxation? How long have you been into it? What are some of your fave triggers/artists?
Personally, I suffer from anxiety and insomnia.. And asmr videos can bring me down and make me sleepy. I do get the ASMR effect, rarely, but mostly I just find being spoken to softly incredibly relaxing. (and it can be creepy, but not all asmr videos are spoken and that seems to be what a lot of people have issue with) I've been into it for about.. six years now, dang.
some of my faves: fave speaking asmrtist the actual channel that brought me into the concept of asmr, which is very nonverbal and an honorable mention to floam stimming videos in general, they are awesome
Yes! I don't like spoken ASMR, but there's a comb flicking video and a coffee bean video I enjoy. It does help when I can't sleep c:
ASMR <3
I don't remember how I discovered it, but I've always listened to it. I think, if you look at it conventionally it's a bit weird. However, if you keep an open mind, I would argue it's perfectly normal. All it is, is white noise...
Mouth sounds, spoken asmr, cleaning sounds, ear cleaning, head scratching - I'll listen to it all. But I can't stand crinkle noises.
1L. Talk jargon to me. Or give me a paid internship.
I can't stand spoken asmr. However, I love sound effects such as crunching noises, ear blowing, waves and crinkling noises. It makes the hair on my nape, arms and legs stand up and I feel incredibly relaxed.
I tried a couple of videos a while back but they didn't really do much for me... any recommendations? I'd love to feel what some people are describing feeling... the tingling, pleasant sensations, etc.

🦋
Well, everyone has different things that they do or don't like. If I could suggest anything, I would say try out tingle samplers. A lot of the major asmrtists have at least a few of them out.
PPOMO's "Finding your Trigger" series Nonverbal sound sampler from GentleWhispering Kinetic Sand from HeatherFeather ASMRrequests, who does a HUGE variety of types and Ephemeral Rift, one of the few male asmrtists I really like
Those are all pretty well known channels, but as far as channels I like that aren't as big...
Kiva Pop ASMblargh ValeriyaASMR
Some things to remember tho: Not everyone really gets the tingle sensation, and like I said, I've gotten it very rarely. It's mostly just calming. and everyone has their own preferences!! I have a strong preference for accents, personal attention, roleplays and soft female speaking voices, but some people prefer male, different accents, or no voices at all.
Oh wow, thanks for all the links! I have a feeling accents might be a trigger for me, I've always adored listening to people with different accents. I will check out these videos very soon <3

🦋
I know that my first actual ASMR experience was with a transfer student back when I was in middle school, so I absolutely get it. Something about accents is just.. enchanting.
Oh man, this isn't strictly ASMR, but. The Gabor sisters. I can listen to old videos of them talking for hours. Zha Zha Gabor Eva Gabor
This is me. I have terrible sleep problems, and ASMR doesn't always work but it does help. I don't feel the 'tingles' either, just the relaxation.
I have sleep issues related to anxiety and for me ASMR is an important part of maintaining a healthy sleep schedule. Ephemeral Rift and Phoenician Sailor are my favourites. ER is very creative and constantly tries new things. PS has a very lovely voice and his storytelling is the best. They both go to a dark place with their fiction. And dark fiction is the only fiction I like.
the videos often scare me, my boyfriend really likes them tho. i always seem to find really weird ones where girls are sitting in a dimly lit basement whispering and it kind of freaks me out, i have hearing problems and so i can never actually understand what they're whispering ??? i would probably enjoy just sound ones like paper wrinkling, because i rly like repetitive weird sounds
Every so often I will listen to ASMR to relax, but it's hard for me to fall asleep to it. My favorite is GentleWhispering, I love her slight accent. So calming :3
I love ASMR playing with my synesthesia; playing with my back, hair, or the back of my arms will trigger it. Certain auditory triggers like women whispering in Russian (?) or the right musical compositions will as well. Sometimes even the right visual triggers will kick it up, since all my senses sort of intertwine and fire off one another.
I honestly cannot stand them. Esp the speaking ones. I have no clue why lol

Yes, I love ASMR. I used to experience ASMR when I was younger, though I didn't have a word for it. I regularly watch soft-spoken videos to help me sleep and relax, and any haircut videos, although I enjoy soft speaking and rambling the most.
Though many perceive it to be 'creepy' I find it kind of heartwarming that there are so many people who dedicate themselves to giving the same reassurance and comfort they experience through ASMR to others. I find 1000s of other things IRL creepier than that.
I really enjoy it, my favorite ASMR artists on Youtube are Ephemeral Rift like a lot of you, Heather Feather, Tony Bomboni, and ASMRrequests.
