Hey guys! Lately I've been seeing a lot of really nice quotes and sayings floating around, some of them are really uplifting and inspirational. These actually gave me an idea for a christmas gift for a friend who's going through a bit of a rough patch right now. I want to collect a bunch of really nice quotes/sayings, write them out on strips of paper, fold them into origami stars, and place them in a jar. That way my friend can take one out and unfold it whenever she's having a bad day and needs that little extra bit of positivity. :)
So! My question for you guys: What is your favourite quote or saying? Did it help you, or someone you know, get through a tough time?
My favourite quote: "It's okay to be a glowstick; sometimes we need to break before we can shine."
That's a fantastic quote that I never heard before, thanks for sharing!
My current favorite quote does come from a song. I use it like some sort of mantra at the moment as my life is a tragic joke these days...and will be for at least eight more months.
The quote simply says: "Don't let this cold world tear you apart."
Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things get better for you sooner than you hope! That would make a very good mantra, thanks for sharing!
One of the best quotes that got me through tough times was actually on a sticky note at school: "Always remember that no matter how useless you feel, you're someone's reason to smile."
My favorite quote comes from the original Land Before Time movie, words of wisdom from Littlefoot's mother: "Some things you see with your eyes, others you see with your heart." It really helped me after the loss of my first childhood dog because it reminded me that he'll always be with me, even if I can't see him. ❤️
Mine is "if at first you don't succeed put out the fire and try again" It seems to reflect my life -.-;
We shall rise as we fall
Oh I love "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" from Gone with the wind from 1939. It's just so iconic and even though it's said by a man it shows that people who play with you and don't really appreciate you from the start can just leave your life all together. You should not bother yourself with them when they are trying to crawl back to you. It's one of these quotes to make a strong independent women out of you (:
Also this one from Merilyn Monroe is great: "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

A quote I always see floating around that I love (but don't know who originally said it) is:
"Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional."
It may be a variant of a quote from Walt Disney, who apparently said "Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional." But I can't be certain.
Either way, it's an awesome quote. :)

That's a great quote as well! And thank you ❤️
Everybody is a genius. but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
I have a list of quotes that really help me keep my life together. I struggle with PTSD and anxiety, and these three quotes are something I think about almost everyday:
"Leave people better than you found them." ― Marvin J. Ashton
"No amount of anxiety makes any difference to anything that is going to happen." ― Alan Watts
"I was only able to get over my past when I decided I was going to." ― Corallie Buchanan
But I don't know how uplifting those are, so here's one of my faves by Dr. Seuss :): "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."
I've always liked this one:
"Life does not consist mainly, or even largely, of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thought that is forever flowing through one's head." Mark Twain

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain :)

There's already a topic for this in the Chit-Chat forum right here, so I'm going to go ahead and lock this.
