One billion years ago, I decided to name my very first pet Orion.

Well that was taken, even in 2005. So I tried OrionStar. It must have been taken because I settled with OrianStar. Well, it isn't taken now.

It's five bucks to change a name (or I embarrassingly have 6 unopened loyalty boxes). Is a single vowel worth it? What do you guys think? Have you ever changed a pet name in such an aggressively minor way?

Definitely worth it if it bugs you enough! 8D If I do anything to my names names changes/colour changes etc I consider it an investment and imo it's nicer on my eyes... otherwise i'll just get a nervous eye twitch everytime I see something I don't quite like.

If you prefer the other name, then go for it. I've done these minor changes in the past myself, so I can understand you. And to me it was always worth it.

It probably depends on how much it's bothering you. I personally have zero tolerance of misspelled names/words xD, so I would either abandon a pet or change the name. Considering your pet is super old, it'd be totally worth it to change the name so that you can keep the low ID.

I agree with the others, it depends if its bothering you. If it is a major thing I would change. if it's minor then use the money on something eles, maybe a pet slot

If you have the loyalty box, I would definitely go for it! When I first started, the name Casey was taken so I added a couple of y's but once it cleared, I went for the change since it was annoying me and I'm glad I did.

Thanks for the input, guys! I'll probably spend the next few days badgering myself to just use a loyalty box ("you'll get another one! You're not using them!" I do my hoarding mostly digitally to avoid doing it more offline...) and then just do it.

Why I couldn't have just, you know, picked any other name 11 years ago... /shrug

I actually did a pet name change today. It was worth it. Her current name suits her much better then her old one.

A while back, I adopted a pet from the pound with the name Margarete, then later, changed it to Marguerite, the original French spelling when the name became available during a name clearing because it bugged me so much that she had an alternate spelling of that name. If it bugs you enough then yes, change it.

If it makes you happy, go for it! I used one to remove a dot from one of my pets' names, since I was waiting for the original name to become available, and now she's a happy little bat with a proper name.

If it were me, a misspelled name would be a dealbreaker, and I would have to change it. I believe others here have expressed a similar sentiment. :)

I would caution that you be sure what you want to change it to, since as you say it would take 500 CSC or a loyalty box (didn't even know this was a loyalty box option, tbh) to perform the action and you wouldn't get that back.

What I mean is: are you sure you'd want OrionStar? Have you considered other possibilities that may suit the pet's character/meaning to you?

Other than that, I feel the need to congratulate you on your discipline of keeping six loyalty boxes. SIX. How do you even. :o

Anywat, I... guess I just forgot the loyalty boxes were there? Time gets away from me and I don't play too hardcore most of the time. I was mostly excited for the pet slots they can give, but I have five empty slots now so haven't really needed them. I wouldn't call it discipline so much as "holy crap have I been on this site for 11 years?!" XD

So, I bit the bullet and finally fixed his name!

As for "OrionStar" and whether I wanted that... well, since I adopted GoldenStar a little bit after creating my first pet, I've stuck 'Star' on the end of all my pet names (and only adopted those with 'Star' at the end as well). It's silly but I rarely have to fight over pet names, so... at this point, oh well!

I totally support your decision to fix the name!

I have put a lot into my own pet's names, and they mean a lot to me :)

Thanks! I'm actually in the process of determing how to throw out the bathwater (old code, half done profiles, some uh questionable-in-the-wrong-way stories) without throwing out the baby.
