So a little about me, I'm Sarah, 23 years young! I live in Raleigh, NC right now and well I have 2 interviews for the next two days one is in Alabama and the other Florida!! I haven't been employed since Labor Day! (that's a long time for me) I'm hoping to get back out there and start working/exploring America! (ps I'm super nervous about my interview, does anyone have any tips on how to land the job?) Feel free to post anything that will help me and others have better interviewing skills! Any resources will help! :) I try to do mock interviews with my grandmother...sometimes it works and sometimes it turns into a life lecture hahaa

i've only ever had one interview and it was for a part-time job so i'm not sure how good i am at them BUT i did get the job so i guess i must have been okay lol

tbh i found that the best way to not get nervous was to get in the 'i am exactly who they are looking for and there's no way i'm not going to get the job' mindest. focus on your strengths and make sure you get those across. don't even think about your weaknesses and never mention them also be prepared to give evidence of anything they ask you. like if you get asked something like 'when was one time you showed teamwork' already have a story ready also have some questions ready to ask at the end (if they give you time to ask questions) since it shows you're interested and employers love that

good luck! :>

Yes thank you! I feel like it went well but I just HATE that first question. Tell me about yourself. UGH. Here's a good answer: I'd love to tell you more about myself but to make the best use of our time can you tell me about the job?

Also when they ask at the end if you have any questions you always ask at least one!! Here are some I try to ask: What do you do for the company? How did you get there? Is there anything that we have covered that would stop me from moving forward in this interview process? What are the 3 most important things you are looking for as you are evaluating candidates for this position? Is there anything else you see as essential to success in this position?

I literally suck at interviews. I never ask questions and I say all the wrong things. I got lucky at my last job because after my interview, she said "I'm hiring you because you shop here". I was there for a year and I was fired this March. The job I have now, I didn't have an interview. The owner knew me ever since I was a kid, so one day she called me and said "Come work for me". I've been there 4 years and only get one shift a week -_-

you mean like you only work one day a week? dang that would suck. I had a job offer at target but didn't take it...I don't want to go back to retail.

Yup. One day a week. Every Sunday. The new girl she hired in January gets anywhere between 2-4 shifts. I think it's not fair.

This may sound old fashioned, but here goes:

Dress nicely, speak clearly, look the interviewer in the eye and be honest. Don't lie or embellish on your skills or education.
