And I was just watching a seconds from disasters on a similar thing that happened in.. I think it was Belgium? I wonder how we go about fixing it... any news on the cause? Edit: it was Romania. The colectiv fire. If this one turns out to have happened from acoustic foam and fireworks we haven't learned a damn thing.

I used to be from the area and I'm so thankful my friends are okay and not the type to frequent this kind of thing anyway but it's heartbreaking. I hate that so many people where I'm from, artists especially, end up living and working in unsafe spaces because they can't afford anything else and if they have to live somewhere below recommended standards anyway they're definitely going to go for the ones that at least have a cool veneer to them. And there are so few places to play shows in the Bay Area anymore that you have to go underground and just trust that people know what they're doing with the electrical wiring, etc. Performers have to put so much trust in venues in general.
