So I've recently thought to maybe edit some old posts, namely to remove messenger usernames/emails And I mean.. old. Real old, 5+ years old in some cases. Oops. I've peeked around, but either couldn't find or missed if this was addressed somewhere else.

Obviously before I go around editing everything, I wanted to make sure editing posts wouldn't somehow bump them up to the front page? And if I remove the pings in them, then people shouldn't get pinged again, right?

They won't get bumped.

Pings only reping if you delete them, submit the edit, and then add it back in and submit that edit. Or change the case of the username

First of all, you may not be able to find some of the really old posts if they weren't switched around when the forums were changed.

Second simply editing does NOT ping people, even if you leave in the pings. In order to ping people to an edit, you need to do a bunch of things that you aren't likely to do accidentally. Nope, editing doesn't bump them.
