Does anyone here remember getting hand written notes from a boyfriend crush or friend? Do you still get them or give them? Do you still have your notes? I try to keep all the ones that were meaningful to me. Its a nice pick me up to read them when I am sad. I dont know I just really like the love behind a hand written note.

I don't get them much any more, but yes I remember getting them. The last person to actually write me notes was my Granny, who sadly passed away a few years back. I am so happy that I saved a bunch of the ones she wrote me. I try to write and actually mail my friends letters at least once a year.

Haha, that's essentially what I remember of them back in the day. But I actually keep a lot of notes and cards that have meaning to me. They're really fun to look back on- you remember so many things you forgot about that way.

This thread reminds me of this episode of Gravity Falls lmao~

I was always the note writer, I think. Still am, probably. I keep random things like that in a box tucked away somewhere, but I'm not overly sentimental.

My best friend and I used to pass notes in class all the time. Granted, we were usually sitting next to each other because somehow the seating arrangements ended up that way. shiftyeyes

the only hand-written note (not postcard/card/letter) i recall being given was back in high school, and i don't have it anymore. it was from my prom date and i didn't read it until months later (i do regret it but i kind of felt unsafe around him if that's understandable), but i did keep it for a while after.

aside from that, my close friend and i exchange birthday cards since we live states away. i try my best not to lose the gift cards/letters i receive and i keep a small nostalgia box--well it's now two small boxes hehe. every time i go on a cleaning spree, i open up the box and read a couple.

I make it a habit to write thank you notes to people when they do something nice for me. In fact, I usually have at least a couple in my bag. This usually applies to professors who've written letters of recommendation for me, advisors, people who go out of their way to do something nice for me like admins in Dr.s offices or people who work in customer service I will write a note and mail it to their manager (because I know that goes a long way, having worked in the field). Although recently I did have to write a combo thank you/apology letter to some friends who had posted a party and I didn't realize that I wasn't supposed to drink with the medication I was taking, blacked out, vomited on their rug, and a total stranger (who also got a card) had to take care of me and put me to bed. Whoops!

My point is, everyone appreciates a handwritten card or letter because they're so rare now. When I travel I always pick up a few post cards and write short notes to send to random friends.

Yes! I remember getting little love notes from a guy who was just a friend.

I also passed notes to people. At work too. They were love notes, but I was young and stupid then.

I didn't keep any of them. The only one I kept was from that boy who was just a friend. I found it a few years ago, read it and it made me smile. Have no idea where I put it.

I miss getting them, I used to get them from my grandparents all the time with birthdays, etc. I plan on writing my friend's parents and thanking them for opening their house to my friends and I in March. Just because I don't want to be a complete jerk and not thank the other hosts of the trip...

I'm fairly older than you, so yeah, I passed notes in HS. Just with friends. Some where serious note returners, a lot weren't. I had kept most of my notes until after I graduated, I went to another state for a funeral and my dad decided to "clean" my room which meant all my notes (and photos!) went into the trash because he saw scraps of paper, not meaningful letters from friends. (They were all literally in a drawer. He dumped the drawer.) I still have a couple that survived, tucked away in random places my dad didn't notice.

As for now, no I don't write notes aside from leaving a note for my husband if I go for a walk or if I need to communicate something to him while he's asleep/away.

I have a box somewhere crammed full of notes that a high school friend and I used to pass back and forth between classes. We would fold them up as small as possible and cover the front and back. I haven't read any of them in years but they definitely helped to make high school bearable.

When I was in elementary school I decided to become pen pals with one of friends just because we both like writing letters. I still have some of the letters from that brief pen pal period which are really funny. I also have more recent letters, cards, and post cards from her as we still occasionally write each other just because cards. I also have letters from my now husband that he wrote while we were doing the long distance thing.

I keep these letters and other similar mementos in old chocolate covered macadamia nut boxes. My original box was a really pretty one with whales on it that my mom brought back from Hawaii so the next time some one brought us a box from Hawaii I kept it since the first box was getting over stuffed and it just became a thing. I'm now filling a third box that a friend sent me when he went to Hawaii.

My boyfriend and I go to the same university, but we keep pretty different schedules. So even living together we don't see as much of each other as we would like. I'll come back to my car after leaving campus and find notes placed under the windshield wipers. Once he left me an entire bag of taffy. I like to do the same when I see his car as well.

I started to think about this and then I burst out laughing because my boyfriend has the most unreadable handwriting I've ever come across. Sometimes I see a note he's written for himself and I spend 10 minutes trying to guess what it says, and in the end he's not sure either. XD

I did get a love letter from a 5-year-old boy a few years ago, tho. :D He'd seen my childhood photograph at my stepdad's parents' house and thought I was still a kid, so he wrote me a letter. I can't remember what it said, but I still have it somewhere...

My love occasionally writes me little notes, but the last real handwritten note I got was in high school. Most of them came from that time. I liked them then and I do now, though they're much more rare. I love writing, the way the pencil scratches on paper, the way different handwriting looks, the excitement of receiving something that someone put more time and thought and care into than typing it out (I know typing doesn't equal lesser, but handwritten tales more time and more care to make pretty).

Yes!! It was from a friend, actually! We got into a fight over something and she told me how she felt about what i said to her and slipped it into my desk. That was probably 8 or 9 years ago and I still have it.

To me, the appeal of a handwritten letter (as opposed to email or something) is that it's a physical thing that somebody made for me, that I can always keep physically with me.

My best friend and I have always sent each other cards. Not often, but we do it for major holidays, and about once or twice a year, one of us will randomly send the other a "thinking of you" or "thanks for being my friend" sort of card. We often live far apart, so it's nice to hold something and know that the other person held it too, and to see their handwriting makes it feel more personal than text on a screen.

Plus, getting a surprise letter in the mail and getting to tear open the envelope always makes me more excited than seeing a "new chat notification" on my computer. It's like the excitement of opening a present on christmas day.

Never got any love notes, but I miss handwritten notes a lot. Getting one just seems so much more thoughtful than just sending an email. I still write postcards and handwrite letters when I have the chance.
