It's a good thing, promise.

One of my best friends and I were looking at plane tickets to meet up down in South Carolina where she now lives and we found out that they're extremely affordable even for our poor souls. We flung the information to our third mutual best friend (we're a tricycle of sorts) and she flipped out, checked and found out that it's the same for her. Very affordable even though she's been sick with an unknown neurological imbalance since March.

Cue more researching. Second best friend's in near Buffalo, I'm close to Gettysburg and the nearest airport that was cheapest to fly out of was Dulles International in Washington DC. This is where it gets awesome. She has one connecting flight. Which lands in DC. We found out that since we're heading to the same place and there's a very limited number of flights to per day, she and I are going to be on the same plane down and the same plane back. Right by each other, per seating. Cue some screaming in delight, flailing to get the tickets booked (done) and a lot of happy crying.

As of March 15th, 2017... I get to see two of my best friends. I'm so excited. ;v;

Up until now, it's only ever been Skype, video calls and phone calls, I've known them both for years. I think they know me better than my parents, in fact. I know what a lot of the comments are going to be, "Is it safe? Do you know who you're actually meeting?" Etc. This isn't an impromptu decision or anything like that. Both times of meeting friends, it's in a very public place. The worst thing that we're facing is TSA. XD

That is epically awesome. Kind of how I felt when I got the time off to go down to Florida for a week this summer with three friends to visit one of our good friends that moved down there last year.

I am so excited. XD The friend in Buffalo and I are already looking at bathing suits and such because it should be warm enough come March to at least be on the beach.

I know, right?? I keep looking at the ticket and giggling like an idiot.

Actually I think that sounds amazing. I've met a girl from the internet in rl and it was absolutely fine, like you we'd skype'd and chatted and really got to know each other.

I think people have good intentions when they say "are you safe" but really it's a lot safer than meeting someone once at a bar and then meeting up again for another date or something.

You guys are going to have such a lovely time :) Long distance friendships can be tough cos sometimes you just want to hang out in person! I hope you have a great time <3

I have too a couple times prior to this. With the one in Buffalo, I've known her for six years and the one we're meeting up with in South Carolina I've known for going on four years. We've spoken daily, done video calls for hours, all that.

People do have the best intention with asking that but it gets kinda annoying. XD

If I could hang out with these two on a daily basis, I'd never be online or only rarely, lmao. I'm so excited for March (and nervous mostly because of I've never flown before.)

How long will your flight be? Flying isn't so bad - it's a good excuse to put your headphones in and have a nap (although I can nap anywhere). Or settle into a good book :) I love it when you have something to look forward to, it means on the bad days you can just say...X days until March and then I'll see my 2 besties :)

I think that's probably the one thing I miss about school, or living away from home at university - seeing friends 90% of the time. Now I have to try and book time in with them because we're both so busy.

According to the ticket, about two hours. The friend coming down from Buffalo has one connecting flight in DC (where I'm flying out of) and then we'll be sitting beside each other the rest of the way down. Same for the way back. XD We weren't planning on really settling things this far out but the fact of being on the same plane down and back up kind of settled things.

I was homeschooled so I'm a little ambiguous in that regard but I do get the whole matter of having to make little appointments to see friends entirely.

Oh wow basically the complete opposite to me then - I went to a boarding school and then went to university ages away from home so had to stay in halls/ rent a flat with friends. I now live down the road from my mum so I see her pretty much every day - but it does mean I have to get used to not being around my friends all the time.

Ohh, sounds fun. Boarding schools terrify and intrigue me at the same time.

Life is so weird. To be completely honest, I met my now-wife through online gaming--we were friends for a couple years before I told her that I liked her. Then we dated online... then she moved across the country to be near me. Then we met in person. In that order. Five years later, we got married and are so so happy.

I would never recommend it, nor would I ever want my child to do something like that. But life is weird and friends happen where they happen--and so does love. shrugs online people are..people. Not all are good, but that's true in life too. Have so much fun!

Oh that's awesome, you're going to have a blast! I got to meet one of my buds I played Xbox with 4 years ago. I first 'met' him online through my ex, back when the two of us were dating. We never Skyped but I was friends with him on Facebook (I know, you can still lie about who you are on there lol). However, I did talk to a few of his friends from high school.

Back when I was away for college one year, he decided to just drive over to my college campus. My ex and I went to the same school that year so he was going to stay with him for the weekend. We were officially broken up at this time, but we were still on good enough terms at this point. So I met up with the two of them to meet the guy I had been talking to on Xbox for a few years. It just goes to show that not everyone you talk to online is going to lie about who they really are.

Also that's some awesome luck that you get to sit with another friend on the plane to and from, unplanned! It was just meant to be.

That's so exciting! I've been able to meet up with internet friends IRL before and it is the best! I still regularly visit my best friend, and another close friend who I made online is close by too, it's awesome! I hope your visit goes magnificently!

i've gotten to do this same thing twice, meeting online friends in real life! the first time, she got to stay over for christmas and we had a blast.

the second time, it was a different long-time internet best friend that i convinced to move in with me. seems weird and random, i know, but we'd been planning a visit for a while, and her situation at home was... bad. really bad. so we talked about it, and she packed her things and flew down here. that was almost two years ago now.

now me, her, and my sister all live together in a three bedroom house with our pets, a cat and a turtle. i never imagined my life turning out so.. well? i'm so happy to have her here with me. i think we might be dating, actually... :')

anyway, good luck to you! y'all are going to have a blast, it's gonna be awesome!

I had a friend who I met through Xbox Live for a couple years. Turned out to be one of the worst friends I'd ever had in my life, bar none. Manipulative bitch...

BUT YES. The plane seating was what made things just go, "Oops, hello, I'm planned now."

That's wonderful! I hope things continue to work out wonderfully for you and her. c:

My friends and I had a set date because the one friend in Buffalo had a horrendous birthday last year and we wanted to get her away from her idiot grandmother (who informed her that she was going to hell for having pink hair, gave her grief for not being in church on Palm Sunday, sent her into a panic attack and triggered what's now going into its 8th month of an unnamed neurological imbalance/illness) for her next birthday.

We're even discussing birthday cakes already. XD So far, we know it's going to be a red velvet something rather, ice cream or plain cake, we don't know yet.
