The first one was on the news and I'm like "Oh, well that's just some random madman." But then there was another elsewhere, and another, and I'm starting to get a little creeped out. Honestly, one of my first thoughts when the attacks kept cropping up was "This would make a really great Dr.Who episode, where some alien species intent on causing fear and panic that doesn't have a form of its own, take the form of clowns and begins attacking people." Seriously though, this is just another thing that has caused me to go WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?! Is this terrorists doing this who've finally lost their shit? Is it some weird-ass internet 'craze'? Wtf. I mean, I didn't like clowns in the first place, always thought they were creepy as hell. But this is a whole new level. If I see a clown, I'm kicking it in the nuts or a suitably painful alternative.
So has this happened in your area? What do you think? Any theories? Etc.?
It's so stupid and it's spreading. :/ There are people jumping out in front of cars and scaring people while dressed up as really creepy clowns. Tbh even though they're also humans if they do that and someone hits them... they really were asking for it! If they want to scare people they might find out they don't like how people react when they're scared.
Personally I think people've been reading to much damn Stephen King...
I just. Don't.....this is the stupidest thing I've read about happening in the US in a long time. There's just no sense at all behind this. Anyone trying to scare or prank someone as a clown right now deserves whatever happens to them.

Luckily, where I live it hasn't really become a trend. But, I have heard that there has been a few clown sightings in other areas in the Pacific Northwest, so I'm sure it'll eventually catch on here too.
I thought it was a pretty dumb but relatively harmless trend when it first started out. But now, I'm not really so sure. There's been so many cases now were clowns have chased people around with machetes or chainsaws. I don't care how much they want to prank people, when someone threatens another's personal safety it's no longer a joke, a prank, or whatever you want to call it. Also, there have been cases of clowns trying to lure children into the woods which is completely unacceptable. You don't fuck with people's children, period. We live in a world where some sick "people" target and prey upon children, and even though I don't have children myself, I'm sure that's a very real concern to every single parent who cares about their child. So, to exploit that parental fear to get their laugh is flat out disgusting. I'm just scared that actual sickos are going to use this trend to do some truly awful things.
This trend has created terror in a lot of places all over the US, people need to realize that there's a point when it's no longer funny. I agree with Dandelina, whatever happens to these people dressing up as clowns to scare others is deserved at this point.
Personally, I think it's beyond stupid, dangerous and if anyone does this to me, I can and will defend myself.

they call them killer clowns, but has anyone actually been killed by one?
I agree. It's really stupid. But they've started to try to kidnap children. There was a video posted on youtube of a clown at a park I went to after high school all the time. But one of them has already gotten shot and killed while trying to stab someone. I read an article that had a quote in it from one of the top cop peoples. "They're gonna sneak up on the wrong person sometime and they may react violently." Something along those lines. It's a person in a mask, even it they don't have a weapon, you still have every right to defend yourself. You don't know what their intentions are.
This thing is probably just Juggalo's finding a way to be killa clowns, XD
Its so annoying that its becoming such a big deal. It probably started off harmless but now since they are getting so many headlines Psychos are dressing up now and going out to hurt people to make sure they get plenty of airtime since they are dressed up like a clown.
I think it needs to stop being aired so much everywhere so this clown stuff can calm down. I am not personally afraid of clowns. But I am afraid of creeps that walk around your home and places close to you late at night!!!

This shitty trend is no longer confined to the US. It's global. :s
People need to stop personally recording crazy shit like this and fueling the clown's 15 minutes of fame. I mean no wonder we're getting copycats when there are top whatever scary clown videos on youtube, you know? These sick people feed off the attention and the power. :x
I hope I never see one of these irl because I'd be a mix of scared, angry, and anxious. I mean it's easy to just say hahaha I will challenge the clown, it's just a joke, but really, you DON'T know that and given reports of some of these clowns threatening to injure people (or worse), it's not exactly the time to be a hero either.
With Halloween around the corner, this crap is only going to get worse. I'm glad I'm not working on Halloween because having to finish late and rely on public transport... um no thank you.
